BRIEF INTRODUCTION

MUSIC: Music and Song Performances (East Asian Music)

The music of East Asia is as unique as the region from which it originates,
characterized by an emphasis on melody, a focus on individual instruments, and the common
use of abstraction. Use instruments made from natural elements; East Asian music is one of the
oldest and most complex systems of music on the planet. This module will introduce you to the
sample music of East Asia. The different cultural and musical practices of China, Japan, and
Korea as expressed through their feelings towards each other, to the environment, their history,
and culture.

Using your knowledge of musical elements and styles, you will be guided by the given
rubric in assessing the music of East Asia and musical performances.

ARTS: Culture of East Asian Arts and Its Influence on Philippine Art Culture
This will introduce you to the different arts, traditions, and cultural backgrounds of East
Asia countries, namely - China - Japan – Korea. These countries have known for their numerous
similarities in their art production, artistic traditions, and principles of arts as influenced by their
history, beliefs, religion, culture, and rulers. It will also guide you in your journey to the rich
cultural diversity of the arts and crafts as inspired by the different creative folk arts and designs
of the East Asian countries.

The salient features of the arts of East Asia show the relationship of the art elements,
principles, and processes among culturally diverse communities. Learning the art concepts of
China, Japan, and Korea will help make your tasks and projects through varied activities to
enhance your skill and deepen your understanding and appreciation of the arts of East Asia.

P.E: PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND PHYSICAL FITNESS

Goalball is a Paralympic sport for both men and women, played by athletes
with visual impairments but may also use as a recreational activity and can be part of
school games that can be a beneficial and rewarding experience to the students. As
you go along, you will encounter basic activity skills like blocking, throwing, and
passing that focuses on the muscles and bone-strengthening; it will also allow you to
demonstrate a deeper understanding of the benefits derived from your engagement and
participation in different lead-up games for Goalball together with your family, which
eventually promote family fitness, health, and wellness.

HEALTH: Responsible Parenthood

Being a parent is not just as simple as having children. It takes a gut and a will to
become one. The love and the choice to provide the needs and desires of the children are most
essential in being a parent.

Responsible parenthood begins in planning the family's future look. The stability in
all aspects, especially the economic state, the number and age spaces of children, and the
guidance and support that a parent can give to their children. Responsible parents plan the
family at the very beginning. Either natural (Calendar Rhythm Method, Standard Days
Method, Billings Ovulation Method, Creighton Model Fertility Care System, Two Day Method,
Basal Body Temperature Method, Sympto-thermal Method, Sympto-hormonal Method, and
Lactation Amenorrhea Method) and Artificial (Combined Hormonal Contraceptives,
Progestine-only Contraceptives, Intrauterine Contraceptives, and Barrier Methods) can help a
lot in achieving a healthy family.

Activity 2:
Explore the beauty of East Asian Art through different art activities using materials
that are already available at home. Now, let us process the things that you have
learned about East Asian arts. Remember that there are many ways to make your
artwork. You may select one activity from the activities below.

Activity 2.1: Paper Quill Art

Materials:

Activity 2.2: Paper Cut Lantern


Making

Materials:

 13x6 inch. colored paper or board


paper
 Cutter and ruler
 Glue and glue gun
 Ribbon
 Battery light (option cellophane)
 Compass or any round materials
Procedure:
1. On your 13x6 inch of colored paper. Mark on
0.5 inches and 3inch on each side. Do not cut
the excess paper. Divide and fold the paper by
3 inches.
2. Using a compass, draw a semi-circle on the top
with 1. 5 inches. Cut the semi-circle and cut
the bottom corner triangularly in each line.
Fold triangularly on the top.
3. Fold and draw your desire design with an
East-Asian inspired theme.
4. Start cutting your design in each fold. Paste
the excess part of the paper at the bottom to
create a box.
5. Put the battery light inside and use a glue gun
(option) to paste and hold the battery inside.
(Option: cover the box inside with cellophane
to give the illusion of light and emphasis on
the design.)
6. Tie the top part of the box with any kind of
ribbon to hold the box.

Experience playing Goalball competitively at home with family members and friends.
Document the activity by taking pictures or videos while doing the activity. Encourage

with the help of a guide at the back.
c. For the third attempt, the groups will knock down the bottles
blindfolded without a guide.

a. Make teams of two. The player kneels between two
plastic bottles placed approximately 5-7 feet apart.

b. One player (with no blindfold) tries to roll the ball past


the kneeling blindfolded player. The goal of the game is
for the players wearing the blindfold to block the ball
from passing in between the bottles. Emphasize the
proper blocking technique. Players can switch places
after several shots.
