Activity 2
Statistics and Probability (Sampling Distributions)
S.Y. 2020 - 2021
Name: Date:
A. Do as indicated.
1. Gilbert got a new job in a shoe store at a mall in San Fernando, Pampanga. The numbers of pair of shoes he was able
to sell for three days are : 2,4,5 . Assume that samples of size 2 are randomly selected with replacement from this
population of three values.
f. Compare the population mean with the mean of the sampling distribution of means.
2. Dan works in an insurance company. Last January, he was able to insure 2 persons. Last February, he was able to
insure 3 persons. Last March, he was able to insure 5 persons. Assume that samples of size 2 are randomly selected with
replacement from this population of three values.
f. Compare the population mean with the mean of the sampling distribution of means.
3. Consider the population consisting of the values (1,2,8). List all possible samples of size 2 which can be drawn without
replacement from the population. Find the following:
a. Population mean
b. Population variance
d. Mean of the samples and the mean of the sampling distribution of mean
B. Find the indicated area under the normal curve, then convert it to percentage. (Indicate the illustration
of the bell curve)
(3 pts each – 1 pt. for the area, 1 pt. for the percentage and 1 pt. for the picture/illustration)
1. What percent of the area under the normal curve is between z=0.85 and z=2.5?
2. What percent of the area under the normal curve is between z=-1.00 and z=1.00?
