After joining XYZ Company as CEO, Mr. Ahmad focused on the personal needs of
each employee and treated them individually. Instead of giving direct instructions,
Mr. Ahmad used to intellectually stimulate employees to look at the problem in a
new way to find a suitable solution. It affected the employees positively and they
start focusing on their targets by working restlessly to meet the expectations. As a
result, the profits of XYZ Company increased by 30% in a year. Moreover,
innovative and new products were also introduced in the market to gage the status
of market leaders.

Looking at the above scenario:

Q.1: How you define transformational leadership? Also discuss its characteristics.

Answer:
Transformational Leadership:
The ability to motivate the group members to work for organizational objectives
achievement enthusiastically in a way that members trust the transformational
leader as their path to carrier growth and development. It focuses the awareness of
the employees/subordinates needs and makes them aware of importance of their
assignments/job descriptions in the growth of organization and their own as well.
The characteristics of Transformational Leadership are as under:
1. Leading towards the betterment of organization
2. Motivation of the workers to get their jobs done with zeal and efficiently.
3. Development of vision/goal for the organization
4. Communication of the vision/goal of the organization to the workers
5. Get the job done by the employees in a way that they produce the progress
willingly
6. Making the workers aware of the importance of their job assignments for
their personal growth
7. Making the employees agreed to work for the organization, not only for their
own benefit.
8. Make the employees view the problems differently and feel responsibility for
problem solving.
9. Charismatic personality must be owned by the transformational leader that
attracts the workers towards it. If it is admirable, it can be a transformational
leader. The leaders are in this era, are the coaches not bosses.
10.A transformational leader must be trustworthy and credible for followers
11.Competency of the leader technically and in terms of interpersonal skills
must be good.
12.Transformational leader is supposed to be self confident and must take
positive decisions even in the worst conditions
13.Consistency denotes the reliability that assumes the good conclusion in any
case.
14.Willingness to protect and save face for a person
15.Ideas sharing and information conveying
