ELEMENTRAY, IN CLASSROOM POLOCIY: PLAGIARISM

Policy
Students starting in Elementary level is when to start to teach about what plagiarism is and the
consequences. It is important to talk to them and show them how to avoid plagiarism and why
there are consequences with plagiarism.
Students starting out in the fourth grade will get the first idea of what plagiarism really is.
Teachers will make lesson plans and other tools to help the students understand more of
plagiarism. My expectations are by the time students are at a fifth-grade level, the student will
have learned and understood the consequences of plagiarism and why it’s important.
My classroom:
Here is my policy for my classroom and for students:
If a student decides to copy or take someone else’s words or work from a website, magazine,
book or just in general someone else. If a student decides to present someone else’s work for
their own, without giving credit or if the student chooses to give their own work to another
student.
Will end in consequences such as:
- Reviewing the definitions of cheating and plagiarism
- Parent notification
- Requiring students to complete an alternative assignment
- Meeting with principal, teacher, and parent
- Receiving no credit or grade for assignment, project, test, or quiz
Lesson Plan:

point they think it is important.
Goal: Students will work together and with their own ideas will come
up with one main point about the presentation.
