Alkaline Body Balance and How Different Foods Affect It

This document discusses how different foods affect the body's alkaline balance, which is optimal at pH 7.4. It introduces the Potential Renal Acid Load (PRAL) scale, which measures a food's acidifying or alkalizing effect on the body. Foods with negative PRAL values are alkalizing, while positive values are acidifying. The document provides PRAL values for various meats, dairy, sugars, vegetables, fruits, and superfoods. It recommends maintaining alkaline balance through diet to avoid conditions like cancer that thrive in acidic environments.

Alkaline body balance and how different foods affect it

Read {"BHealthy"} for vital information on food, its source and its preparation

pH is a (0~14) scale measuring acidity~alkalinity **you may also see (1~14) and (-1~+15)**
The Healthy Human optimum is roughly: 7.4

Potential Renal Acid Load {PRAL} is a scale to measure the affect food has on the body
A negative value means food has an alkaline forming load, a positive value means an acid forming load.
EG: Chicken's PRAL per 100g is 8.7. if you eat 200 grams of chicken, the PRAL value becomes 8.7 (x) 2 = 17.4
Note: If you eat acid producing food you will need to eat enough alkaline resultant food to compensate.

All PRAL values are drawn from the USDA and / or Remer & Manz tables for 100 grams (about 3.5 oz) of food.
NB: There are small differences between the two authorities - where this occurs numbers have been ! averaged.

Cancer & Disease loves acidic environment - try to maintain your body at or close to the optimum pH of : 7.4
Litmus pH paper testing is your best practical daily monitor - use quality strips to regularly check your pH
Adjust foods to help maintain correct alkalinity - colours below are only a guide as to the affect of various foods.

OK - but don't OD Limit Use Avoid - or strictly limit

CBR: Even if PRAL number for food is good, it can't be recommended - for reason/s see: "BHealthy.doc"
