Final Demo

This 3 paragraph summary provides the key details about the document: The document outlines a detailed lesson plan in science about food webs. The objectives are to define a food web and illustrate how energy is transferred between organisms. The lesson plan includes activities where students will identify food chains and webs, discuss how energy decreases as it moves through trophic levels, and construct their own food web using local organisms. The lesson aims to teach students about the interconnection between food chains and how energy is transferred within a ecological community through what eats what relationships.

A DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE VI

I. Objectives
a. Define food web

II. Subject Matter

A. Topic:
Food Web

B. Reference:
Science and Health : Into the Future VI
p.126 , Science & Health p. 111-113

C. Materials:
Illustration, chart, activity sheet, pictures

D. Science Concept:
A food web is a pattern of overlapping and interlinked food chain.
The energy pyramid illustrates how the amount of stored energy from the sum
is reduced as an organism gets away from the producer.

E. Process skills
Observing, Describing, and Differentiating.

F. Values Focus
Valuing the food web and Cooperation

III. Procedure
A. Learning Activities

TEACHER’s Activity PUPIL’s Activity

Preliminary Activity

a. Greetings
Good Morning Class

b. Checking of Attendance

Clap your hands for everybody is present today.

c. What was our assignment? Food chain

(Sun)
1. What is the food chain producer? (Plants)
2. What is the first-order consumer? (Word)
3. What is the second-order (Chicken)
consumer? (A food chain shows the feeding
4. How about the third-order relationship between different
consumer? organisms in a particular
5. What is a food chain? environment or habitat.)

“It was great teacher!”
“Yes teacher!”

“Now may I know how’s your weekend?”

“That’s good! Did all of you eat your breakfast?” “Yes”
“Pupils will raise their hand to
answer the question of teacher”
“Have you seen an animal?
“What animals do you know?”
“What do they eat to live?”
“That’s good to know. For this morning, our
discussion will be in relation food.
“Children will watch the video
“But before that let’s do an energizer first”
“Yes”
“Children will watch Food Chain Song.

“Did you have fun?”

 Group the children’s into two
I will give a sample of picture and they
are going to identify if it’s a food web or
food chain.
 Each group will be given envelopes for (3)
their activity.

C. Explain (Zebra)
 Discussion / Analysis (Lion)
Answer the following questions (Trees)
1. How many food chains are there in (Lion)
the illustration?
2. What is the producer?
3. What is the primary consumer?
4. What is the secondary consumer?
5. Who get the greatest amount of
energy among the consumer?
6. Who get the least amount of energy?

 What is found at the base of the

pyramid?
 In the second layer?
 At the third layer?
 From the pyramid shown, who get the
greatest amount of energy?
A food web is the natural interconnection of
food chains and a graphical representation of
what-eats-what in an ecological community.

A f ood

chain is a linear sequence of organisms

through which nutrients and energy pass as
one organism eats another.

A food chain follows one path of energy and

materials between species. A food web is
more complex and is a whole system of
connected food chains. In a food web,
organisms are placed into different trophic
levels.

For much easier explanation about the food

web and food chain is food chain only pass
the energy on the specific consumer unlike
the food web it has a lot of a lot of consumer
on a specific producer.

 GENERALIZATION

 A food web is similar to a food chain. The

diagram combines many food chains into
energy relationships among organisms.

 What happens to the amount of energy

as it is transferred from one consumer to “The pupil will construct the food
another? web”

 Food web is importance on ou.r daily life

because it identifies the importance of
animal’s relationship and food source.

D. Elaborate
 Construct your own food web
using the following animals.
 Chicken, bird, rice plant, boy,
lizard.

E. Evaluate
Choose the letter of the correct answer.

1. A food web is ___________ food chains.

a. Composed of
b. A simple
c. An energetic
d. A decaying

2. The plant is considered the _______

a. Primary consumer
b. Producer
c. Secondary consumer
d. Tertiary consumer

3. What is transferred in the food web?

a. Parasites
b. Predators
c. Energy
d. Water

4. In the food web, which get the greatest amount of energy?

a. The primary consumer
b. The secondary consumer
c. The tertiary consumer
d. The decomposer

5. What happens to the stored energy as the consumer is getting away from the producer?
a. It increases
b. It decreases
c. It does not change
d. It remains the same

F. ENRICHMENT
Construct a food web with organism in your backyard or around your community.
