The class is full of male and female students. There are students of different ethnicities in the classroom.

It is very much so mixed of all races.

2. Describe the design/arrangement of the classroom. (C diagram.) The students desks are arranged

in groups of four.

3. Explain the tools including technology the teacher uses during the teach demonstration.

The teacher started the instruction off with a debate to get the students involved and thinking.

I found this to be a fun thing for the students to do and something that got everybody participating.
The students used their phones to access videos that the teacher assigned them to use for the assignment.

4. Is instruction delivered in small groups, centers, whole groups, individually, or a combination

of instruction formats?

The instruction is delivered to the small groups and also large groups of the students. She uses whole groups

in the beginning and then toward the end she used small groups once the assignment was delivered.

The teacher delivers her instructions in groups. The students are in groups of 4 and asked to do activities that

require a presentation.

5. Describe the teacher’s teaching style. Give examples.

The teacher has a delegator style of teaching. She uses this style to allow the students to work in groups.

She then observes their group work by making them present or explain their opinions and findings.

The teacher uses the visual sensory modalities by using the videos to visually show the students examples.

Students are engaged in the lesson by having them state their opinions and why they have them.

She then gives them needed information for the assignments and at the end of the class gets them to

participate in group activities like presentation of the materials.

The teacher starts off by lightly touching the topic and asking the students their opinions. She then

The teacher constantly is walking around observing and helping the students this was a great way

to keep them focused.

The teacher expected every student to actively participate. She let them have their opinions but questioned
why they felt the way that they did.

11. Evaluate the interactions between teacher and students, rapport, cohesiveness, distribution of power, teacher

personality. Provide examples for each.

The teacher remained calm at all times. She had a positive attitude and one thing I especially
liked was that she kept her own opinions to herself.

The class is made up of all different genders and ethnicities. It is not a special needs class.

in groups of four.

The teacher started the instruction off with a hand outs and then asked the students to privently read

over the material and form an opinion based on the materials. She used swimming and Michael Phelps

as a way to get into the assignment. She then had them discuss it as groups.

I found this to be a fun thing for the students to do and something that got everybody participating.

of instruction formats?

The instruction is delivered to the small groups and also large groups of the students. She uses whole groups

in the beginning to deliver the topics and then as small groups she had them work together.

The teacher has a delegator style of teaching. She observes the students and what their groups come up with.

She then gives them tips and explains if they are wrong and what they are also doing right.

The teacher uses the visual sensory modalities by using the figures of Phelps swim times. She then gives

Them some problems as groups and has them work on them and helps group by group.

Students are engaged in the lesson by having them state their opinions and why they have them.

She then gives them needed information for the assignments and at the end of the class gets them to

participate in group activities like presentation of the materials.

The teachers goes around to the groups and sees how far along they are getting with the assignments.

She then comes up with a time limit and lets them know how much time they have to complete the

problems or predictions and then discusses them with the students. She then has a segway to move on

to the rest of the problem.

9. What strategies does the teacher use maintain students’ attention and focus during the lesson? .
The teacher constantly is walking around observing and helping the students this was a great way

to keep them focused. She talks to the groups and helps them along the way if they are not understanding.

This makes the students stay on task.

10. Summarize the teacher’s expectations for student learning and success with examples from the lesson.

The teacher expected every student to actively participate. She monitored them and made sure everybody was

actively participating. She asked the students questions as she was walking around from group to group.

personality. Provide examples for each.

The teacher kept a good attitude throughout the lesson. She would go around and monitor the
groups and if she saw a common problem she would announce to the class and explain why that
did not work. She would evaluate group by group to determine how much she needed to get
involved.

The student make up is full of all ethnicities and genders. This is not a special needs classroom.

All students are in individual desks and it is more of an individual based learning for part of the class.

She uses some groups in parts of the class to get students to interact and think about the lecture.

The teacher used hand outs in order to have the students read about the assignment. She uses themes

and has the students all share in groups their findings.

The teacher started the class off in a large group and then breaks up in small groups to actually

work together in.

The teacher has a facilitator type of teaching. She uses a little bit of lecture but she asks the students questions

She promoted self learning by giving the kids the material and letting them come to conclusion on it.

The teacher uses the visual sensory modalities by using the hand outs. She also uses her projector

and the chalk board.

A really great way I personally liked that the teacher used was having students come write on the chalk board as

she picked out topics. She also got them involved by having them present different themes and quotes in

their groups.

assignment and then go back into the groups and let them discuss what they just talked about.

The teacher expected every student to actively participate. She monitored the students and expected each student

to listen and contribute to their group findings.

The teacher maintained a good tone of voice throughout the lectures. She was involved with the groups.
She discussed with groups why they chose the quotes for the themes that they were assignment which

Made them put the effort in to find a relevant quote.

The teacher started the class off with a lecture but had the students discuss the topics.
She uses her white board/projector to instruct and explain the topics.

of instruction formats?

The instructor delivers in large groups and then individually walked around talking to each of the students

about their discussion.

The teacher has a delegator style of teaching. She uses this style to allow the students to discuss the lecture

amongst themselves and other students.

The teacher uses the visual sensory modalities by using the white board that had key notes for the subjects

She then lectured on top of that using the auditory sensory modalities.

Students are engaged in the lesson by having them all discuss the topics amongst each other and with the

teacher herself.

The teacher transitions by ending the activities with a discussion to get the students discussing

what she just introduced to them.

The teacher takes breaks from her lecture to discuss with the students and get their feedback.

The teacher expected the students to all pay attention when she was talking and then expected them to

participate in discussions.

The teacher interacted with all of the students and asked each of them questions to get them to

Participate. She matched her personality with the students as she went around discussing topics.

The make up in the class is mixed with all genders. I noticed primarily white students if not all.

2. Describe the design/arrangement of the classroom. (C diagram.)

The students are arranged in groups of 4.

3. Explain the tools including technology the teacher uses during the teach demonstration.

The teacher began the class by handing out a math problem that the students were to write a story
based on after they solved the problem. They then were given poster board to present their findings

along with their story.

4. Is instruction delivered in small groups, centers, whole groups, individually, or a combination

of instruction formats?

Instruction is delivered to them as a large group in the class and then individually in small groups.

5. Describe the teacher’s teaching style. Give examples.

The teacher has a delegator style. She used almost what I would call a lab style of teaching.

The students were to solve the problem and then present it to the class the different scenarios

for the math problem.

The teacher uses the visual sensory modalities by using the hand out for the problem

and then having the students present on their poster boards.

The students are engaged in the lesson because they were thrown a problem they had to solve right away.

The teacher walked around to make sure everybody was on task as well.

8. How does the teacher handle transitions from activity to activity? Explain in detail.

The teacher didn't have to do this often because it was one big activity. There was an assignment

that was to be completed and then presented and they were given the plan ahead of time and needed

to plan accordingly.

9. What strategies does the teacher use maintain students’ attention and focus during the lesson? .

The teacher had the students interacting in groups which helps them focus. They were assigned

an assignment that made them think and get creative. She walked around to each group making sure

they were on task and following directions.

The teacher expected the students to remain on task. They were to complete the assignment appropriately

she made sure of this by watching and helping often when the students needed it.

The teacher had a lot of students asking questions about the math problem. She answered all of
their questions but got them thinking about them before she gave the answers. Some students
seemed very confused to me because there was little explanation in the beginning but the teacher
was very helpful when explaining. It might have helped because they are in high school and
needed to think for a while.

What is a piece of advice you wish someone gave you before you became a teacher?

I wish I understood the role I played in these students lives. I did not realize it until later in my career but if I

Would have sooner I may have been able to impact more students' lives in a positive way.

What is your teaching philosophy?

If you’re going to teach, teach with a passion.

What do you find most frustrating about teaching?

I get very frustrated with kids who waste their potential. There is nothing sadder than a child who is not

putting in the effort but is very intelligent.
