Course Rationale:
Information Technology has become one of the most important resources for modern corporations in helping th
continuous transformation, initially as support and enabler and now as competitive differentiator. IT has becom
the corporate life line in almost all cases and the strategic value creator and differentiator in most of the cases.
importance as strategic value creator is growing at a much faster pace due to internet and its convergence, which
forcing organizations to produce, serve and source from anywhere and anytime from the world. In the light
these changes many new challenges and opportunities have emerged in managing IT as a strategic resource.

Course Objectives:
1. The intent of this course is to comprehend the alignment of Business and IT strategy as a source of competiti
advantage.
2. To enforce the understanding on Information systems and IT applications in various organizational processes
as strategic tools.
3. Comprehend strategic planning efforts for IT systems through enterprise structure and IT applications
4. Understand the strategic aspects of various IS/IT functional dimensions for the various corporations.

Learning Outcomes:
1. Analyzing and critically evaluating information as a key resource.
2. Analyze IT system’s abilities to meet the strategic information needs.
3. Evaluate the use of Information Systems /IT to gain competitive advantage.
4. Prepare an effective plan for implementation of information strategy
5. Evaluate IT function service capabilities and enhance it using ITSM processes.

Prerequisite(s):
Understanding of Information Technology Management & Strategic Management.

Pedagogy:
The study plan covering readings, classroom sessions, group work sessions and assignments corresponding to ea
session are outlined below.
It is mandatory to go through the ‘Pre-Session Readings’ and prepare for case study discussions. Quiz or surpri
tests would be conducted on the same. For post contact reading, please refer to the handouts listed und
