Lab 3: Verfication of Nodal Analysis: EE-100 Introduction To Electrical Engineering

This document outlines a lab experiment on verifying nodal analysis. The objective is to analyze a given circuit using nodal analysis and calculate the current I from node A to B. Students are asked to use theoretical analysis, simulation, and physical measurement on a breadboard to solve the circuit. The circuit contains 5 resistors and 2 voltage sources. Students must write nodal equations, solve for the unknown currents and voltages, enter the values in tables, and simulate the circuit in Multisim. Review questions assess the student's understanding of nodal analysis and the number of nodes in the given circuit.

IV. Theory and Background

In electric circuits analysis, nodal analysis, node-voltage analysis, or
the branch current method is a method of determining the voltage
(potential difference) between "nodes" (points where elements or
branches connect) in an electrical circuit in terms of the branch currents.

Nodal analysis writes an equation at each electrical node, requiring that

the branch currents incident at a node must sum to zero. The branch
currents are written in terms of the circuit node voltages

You should be able to choose whichever convention you like. It is a good to adopt
the convention used in the class.
