ABSTRACT
Android is an operating system (os) which is developed for touch mobile’s that was
developed by google and launched in 2007 with first device unveiled in 2008.
Android has not only taken over the mobile market but also smart TV such as android
TV, smart watches etc. It is written in java, c, c++, and modified versions of Linux.
Android uses android software development kit to use its applications called “apps”.
This SDK includes many features such as emulator, debugger, tutorials etc.
Android studio was released in 2014 for the development of the apps. Android is an
open and free source os which allows various users to use it openly. The popularity of
Android grew because of it’s massive third party application which can be
downloaded and updated.
The virtually marketplace for android applications is Google play store not all the
third-party Apps can be allowed because of some policy violations and and other
reasons.
To simply define apps, we can use say that they are small software which are used
for small jobs but recently this line has become blurred. Some “apps” needs to be
connected to the internet whereas some do not and can work offline on electronic
devices. Some example of apps are ola, uber which are used to book a cab and a cab
will reach to your location whereas Gmail, yahoo are apps which makes it easy to
access our electronic mails on the go.
Apps are developed to make one’s life easy by giving one small things handy
such as calendar, calculator, music, web browser etc. There are many other companies
which have released apps in their apps store one of the biggest is apple app store.
Applications in smartphones can be considered as smalls software used for specific
jobs and applications in computer can be defined as full fledged software with all the
features available. Every software needs an input to produced the desired output
which is provided in a computer by keyboard and mouse but this is not the case in
smartphones because of the compactness we use touch of our finger or a stylus to
input the information to arrive at the desired output.
Android has developed and evolved over the years android 1.0 was the first
version which was l launched by android Inc. and the latest android which was
launched is Android 9.0 (android p) which brought many changes over the years with
better bug detection and bug free os. Many apps which are in the app store are free to
use which enables users to communicate, paly games , do work etc , whereas for
developers it gives a chance to develop new software and and can sell it on the play
store or use it as a third party Application, for developers there is also a chance to
take feedback and improve the apps made for betterment both the end user and
developers.
