HOW TO USE THE 400-D69 iGAGING DEPTH GAUGE

The iGauging 400-D69 is a convenient, accurate, well made and robust depth gauging tool used
to measure depths, steps, pockets and holes from zero to 22". This instrument is invaluable in any
machine, manufacturing, equipment repair shop, or fabrication & production shop for precision
measurements to within .0005”.

ITEMS NEEDED :
 #400-D69 iGaging Depth Gauge.
 Precision Flat Surface (for zeroing).
 A part to measure.

DO NOT DROP THIS DEPTH GAUGE.

 THE 400-D69 iGAGING DEPTH GAUGE is a precision instrument and if the plunger is
bent it will no longer extend or retract in a precise way.

 If the base is bent or a corner “mushroomed”, this instrument will not be squared to the
part or the plunger which will produce false readings.

STEP 1 : Remove IiGaging Depth Gauge from case.


STEP 2 : Remove cover from Battery Pocket and install CR2032 coincell battery.
STEP 2a : Replace battery cover.
STEP 3 : Activate instrument by touching the On/Off button.
STEP 4 : Select millimeter, inches, or fractional readout with the MM/in/F mode toggle button.
STEP 5 : “Zero” the gauge before use.
To set the indicator to “zero” :
STEP 6 : Place the indicator on a known flat, machined or finished surface such as a granite
surface plate, mill table, or a flat machined surface.
STEP 7 : Press the Zero button when the Contact Point at the end of the Plunger is flush with the
precision contact surface of the Base, as seen below in IMAGE 02.

STEP 8 : Depths can now be read from 0” to 1”.


For depths greater than 1”, extensions must be used.

This kit comes with 6 extensions that when combined reach 22” in length. See Image 03, below.

USING THE iGAGING DEPTH GAUGE EXTENSION SET

STEP 1 : Zero the instrument as in Step 5, 6 and 7 above.


STEP 2 : Remove the Contact Tip from the Depth Gauge Plunger as seen in IMAGE 04, below.

STEP 3 : Thread on a selected Extension for the work being measured.


STEP 4 : Thread on an appropriate Contact Point to the Extension.
STEP 5 : Measure work.

The The iGaging 400-D69 comes with a selection of 4 different Contact Points as shown below.

The Flat Dish Contact Point can be used to measure


depths of small undercuts as shown below in IMAGE 06.

such as ball end, button type, T-type and chisel points.
