Product Description

The Hematology Team at India develops Beckman Coulter DxH hematology


analyzer. The DxH analyzer is an automated analyzer for in vitro diagnostics. The
analyzer focuses on counting different types of cells in the blood and also in
identifying each individual cell’s size, shape and internal structure. The DxH system
employs Automated Intelligent Morphology and flow cytometric technologies to
deliver results.

Position Description

The position of Electrical Engineer – FPGA will be a part of R&D Hardware


engineering department for Hematology business unit in Beckman India Development
Center, with the primary responsibility to design our current and next generation of
laboratory software system’s embedded software. We are seeking an Electrical
Engineer with hands-on Verilog/VHDL programming skills and systems engineering
experience. This person will be responsible to design, develop, troubleshoot and
debug Verilog/VHDL programs for laboratory systems. Develops software tools
including operating systems, utilities, databases and Internet-related tools.

Key Accountabilities
· Support and lead hardware sustaining, and research and development projects from
an electrical prospective (analog / digital circuits and FPGA)

· Ensures robust/reliable product design, verification and validation of initial and


subsequent design changes making sure that all FDA/ISO/EN and other related
requirements are consistently met.

· Report status in daily management, participate in planning.

· Works closely with the hardware team, the functional manager and the project
manager.

· Collaborates with distributed, cross-functional teams to ensure products meet


quality, performance, scalability, reliability and schedule goals.

· Investigates software, hardware, and system problems using a variety of techniques


and provides innovative solutions.

· Manage design execution of sophisticated products using a strong systems mindset


including hardware, software, fluidics, reagents, biologics, leading closure of all
technical gaps throughout ideation and development life cycle

· Create Design of Experiments (DOE) and test reports, including summarizing


results, drawing conclusions from test results and proposing recommendations, and
present to peers and management.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Electrical related Engineering discipline or


related field with 7+ years of experience.

· Support FPGA board development - pinouts, power estimates, etc

· Develop, verify and release logic blocks and full FPGA designs

· Deep knowledge of VHDL, and a working knowledge of Verilog

· Collaboration with FPGA High-Level Design tools team to drive new features and
improvements

· Perform design verification tests on prototype, analyze results, provide


recommendations and drive to implementation
· Participation on FPGA Continuous Improvement projects

· Demonstrated proficiency in embedded hardware and FPGA/CPLD-based design

· Experience with FPGA/CPLD component selection and programming with Xilinx,


Lattice tools

· Experience in Porting in HDL designs from old FPGA to new FPGA platform

· Experience in specify FPGA timing constraints and troubleshooting timing failures

· Knowledge & Experience in utilizing ModelSim (Simulation)

· Experience in using logic analyzers & scopes

· Excellent communication skills. Ability to interface with various internal and


external stakeholders.

· Experience in Agile development processes and philosophies.

· Ability to work well with people and be both highly motivated and motivating.

· History of driving project execution and timely delivery while ensuring a quality
focus.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced, and often ambiguous environment where continuous


improvement is a way of life.

· Excellent teaming skills to work with cross-functional and in a multi-site software


team

Preferred Qualifications:

· Schematic knowledge is an add on

· Experience with In Vitro Diagnostic domain is a plus.

· Understanding of software development processes for a regulated environment


(ISO9000/FDA) a plus.

· Experience in medical device design & development a plus.
