SOP - New One
During my schooling, I completed my 10 th by securing 72.40% in the year March 2011 from Gujarat
Secondary Education Board. I then completed my 12 th science with 55.00 % in March 2013 from Gujarat
Secondary & Higher Secondary Board. During the time of 12 th examination I was down with typhoid, due
to which I couldn’t able to focus much on the examination. After receiving the score was I was very much
demotivated and upset but my parents supported me a lot during that phase of my life. They always
believed me and wanted me to fulfill any of my dream. Later I took admission in Bachelor of Engineering
(Mechanical) and completed in May 2017 with 7.40 CGPA out of 10 from Gujarat Technological
University. I had learnt many interesting subjects such as Machine Design, Thermal Engineering,
Automobile Engineering, Dynamics of Machinery, Control Engineering Industrial engineering etc. I have
always been an average student in studies throughout my education career. I always had a view to
undertake international education and as I come from a family having strong economic ties my parents
also supported me for the same. I always had a view to undertake international education and as I come
from a family having strong economic ties my parents also supported me for the same.
After completion of my bachelor studies I started to search for the jobs and attended few of the
interviews in the company and after a struggle of almost 3 month I joined Success Technologies as a Jr.
Engineer from September 2017 to till date (Documents enclosed in Visa file). Though I was not getting
remuneration as per my expectation and getting it in cash which I did not find a systematic method of
earning however it was a thorough learning process for me which was much more worth than the salary
which I was drawing for the same. I really enjoyed working as it did not restrict me with any boundaries
of responsibilities. After working for almost 9 months, I feel I am not getting enough exposure and I am
constantly losing the opportunity to increase my knowledge thus by hindering my growth prospects.
During these years, I did try for better opportunities and explored prospects of working in a bigger better
environment of major infrastructure companies. However, I did learn a lot of things on work place but
always I felt lack of leadership and management quality in me. Due to which I felt I couldn’t grow in my
career. Above that even when I was approaching good companies for better job prospectus not having a
master’s degree hindered my cause and I was deprived of a higher position in my career. Thus, I realized
the need of sound technical knowhow of the subject, which can only be gained by further studies in a
developed intellectual environment. Thus, I decided, if I must grow in my career and gain hierarchy
position in an acceptable time frame in India, I must get an international qualified education which is
then well recommended in India as well.
While doing my research and after talking to my seniors I also realized that even the employees who held
a qualification of M. Tech were getting a pay of 16,000 INR per month which was very much basic for a
master’s degree holder that too with 3 years of experience in the same company. This clearly states that
firstly this undergraduate qualification is very much insufficient for my future career and it does not
make sense to invest 2 more years here in India and still not be at par as estimated. Also, I became firm
that my abilities lie more in managing the team rather than the core technical skills of my field . I know
that down the lane after few years’ human skills will have replaced by high-tech machines and more of
skilled labour and intellectuality among the professionals would be required for managing those
machines by the multinationals. Thus, upon getting convinced my father really supported my decision of
pursuing my overseas studies that he agreed to accompany me to each education consultancy I went for
taking information regarding the availability of the course and the process for Australia.
With the support of my parents, I started to explore opportunities. I started my preparation for IELTS
from March 2018 to April 2018 and I gave my IELTS examination because the examination is valid for
any country and scored an overall of 6.0 on 24th May 2018 (IELTS scoresheet Enclosed).
Thus, after a lot of discussions till midnight we shortlisted to go for a management related program. Thus,
after a close research over the options for my higher education in abroad I started my process to study
Master of Management for Engineers from CQU University and started my preparation for documentation
for application and visa process for Australia after deciding to pursue the course of Master of
Management for Engineers. I became more firm on my decision for this course and this university when
the university before giving me the admission took my GTE ( Genuine Temporary Entrant) interview
wherein I was been asked about myself, the course, reasons for studying in Australia, my future goals,
sponsorship information, living expense which lasted of 40 mins wherein I realized that the university
education would definitely be one of the finest one as they were more concerned with the quality of
students rather than the quantity. After my GTE from CQU I received offer letter meanwhile my parents
understand the finance requirement and they started preparation for same. After done all documentation
I submitted finance I got approval on 4th July and paid the fees.
When I researched about the courses in India I did not find any such course which a management level
course is very much specific to Engineering. The courses which I found were MBA which is completely
commerce related course, Master of Management which would specialize in marketing and logistic and
supply chain however did not find the one which could meet my keen of interest. The reason for not
opting to study from India is due to that fact that during my under graduation I realized that the
education which was imparted was very much of book oriented one and very less of case study and thus
lack of practical approach and lacks in preparing us for an industry ready. The internship which is been
provided by the Indian university is not productive enough and thus only subjected till data entry work.
The campus placement is very much probable of the candidate leaving the job after the first 6 months of
probation period as the candidate will not be given the responsibility which could be at par with the
abilities, so I believe that there is no point of pursuing further studies when there is a possibility of such
circumstances to occur. Also, I want to pursue abroad qualification as I do not want to start my job in
India with a basic pay of 15000 INR per month as along with hard work smart work is also mandatory.
When I researched about pursuing my further studies in abroad country I did research about different
countries and their outcome after pursuing my qualification from there. USA and UK did not make me
interested as the cost of education in USA and UK was very high as the US dollar is priced very high at INR
68.67and UK Pound is equal to INR 85.53. Also, in USA, there is requirement to take GRE examination
other than IELTS and TOFEL which require lot of time for preparation. Also, there is issue like
deportation specifically USA due to its stringent immigration interrogation system; due to huge no of
universities and colleges, various colleges & universities getting black listed. While U.K. education system
offering 12 to 14 months’ degree which is not acceptable in India by Indian Universities and companies.
Also, in both the countries USA &Uk number of issues are there with regards to scholarship, climate, part
time jobs, post study work options; Hence My parents are happy to send me to Australia as it is a safe
country. The Australian dollar exchange rate is much less and so the cost of living and tuition fee is
affordable. Even the degrees acquired from Australian universities are accepted by universities in India
and by the companies that are run under the control of Indian government. So, considering all these
factors I decided to pursue me studies from Australia.
If I compare with Canada it provides diploma course and the weather is too cold to survive. USA has a
very high crime ratio which I feel would make an international student like me to feel unsafe for survival.
WHY AUSTRALIA AS A PREFREED DESTINATION
Australia is one of the world’s most favorite destinations for students seeking top class education.
Australia has the third highest number of international students in the world just behind UK and USA
though it has a mere population of 23 million which accounts to almost half of Gujarat, India. Seven
Australian Universities feature in top 100 universities in the world ranked by top university ranking
standards. As one of the safest countries in the world, Australians are also very friendly and welcoming
to outsiders. Australia offers a challenging and exciting creative study environment and has some
amazing landscapes, wildlife and flora and fauna. All public and private institutions meet with. The
ESOS Framework (Education Services for Overseas Students) protects the rights of international
students in terms of course, fees, and mode of study. This ensures transparent and quality education.
Australian universities are widely known for the quality of their teaching. The qualifications are
included under one national system - Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). It is becoming one of
the most preferred destinations for international students because of the new student visa rules that
have come into play due to which only genuine students will be given preference of a visa grant. This
would ensure that the education quality is maintained, and only genuine students will get visa. Also, the
highly cultured & well-educated people are the strength of Australia. The high standard of living &
affordable accommodation is one of reason to choose Australia for higher education. I perceive that
learning in Australia will provide me a solid framework for achieving professional responsibility,
proficiency and lifetime career development on my return to India. Moreover, it is a tourist country
as well, so along with my studies, I can even explore some of the best places in this country and
gain the best and the cutting-edge quality education. Studying in Australia is a unique and thrilling
experience.
Australia has a very good reputation in my country. Therefore, this higher qualification from Australia
will be recognized and respected worldwide and would be a valuable investment for my future career.
My family is ready to support me financially during my stay in Australia and will take care of my
expenses. Thus, I see no reason as to why I should not grab this opportunity if circumstances are in my
favor.
The course is for 2 years’ duration. The course structure consists of 16 subjects who include 12 core
subjects and four electives inclusive such as Research in Business, Strategic Business Management and
Professional Projects which cover business analysis in market scenario. It also includes People and
Organization, Organizational Governance and leadership, Operational Management, Innovation and
Sustainable business development, Project Management Concept, System Science and Engineering,
Accounting and Management Decision Making, Management Law. The best part about this course is that
it has 10 weeks of internship associated with the program. By undertaking the internship, I would be
getting exposure of the working in a corporate culture and moreover it would excel me on my
professional part. By undertaking this internship, I would be getting to work with different culture of the
people.
They have various career support services like library services, and it also has another feature called
Monitoring Academic Progress (MAP) policy and procedures providing a framework on describing how
the University identifies and engages with students who are not achieving satisfactory academic
progress. MAP students will be provided with structured opportunities to access support and develop
strategies that will assist them to succeed in their study and ultimately make informed decisions. Out of
these services I feel academic learning centre will be very helpful to me to understand how assignments
are written and how I can score more marks. The, graduate employment is 81.1% which is higher than
national average of 71.3%.
I also did research for other Universities wherein I found out that Charles Sturt University, University of
Wollongong, MIT-Federation & La Trobe University however there were keen reasons of selecting this
University. The university is a government funded university and is not like partnered with others like
Federation university partnered with ATMC, IIBIT and MIT. WSU & Charles Sturt University is just a 2-
floorUniversity come college, which is not my preference. The course at La Trobe is exactly like CQU but
the fees is very high at Australia $ 29000, whereas at CQU I’m paying $ 25,968 AUD also I’m getting an
International Scholarship of 20 % on my full year fees which is a matter of proud for me and my parents.
Thus, I firmly believe CQU is the perfect choice for my career.
INCENTIVES TO RETURN
Upon completion of my qualification I would work few months after obtaining post study work visa as I
would want to experience the international work culture and the market too to get the skills and
technology back to my home-country. After working for a year, I would want to come back to my home
country to start my career and settle in life. My family is very much financially sound and that is the
reason they can afford to send me for overseas studies and being the only son of my parents, I must take
care of the family assets in the most efficient manner. There is a definite strong incentive to return as I
belong to a traditional Gujarati family wherein we have always stayed together with my parents and I am
very close to my family and they have agreed to support my decision to pursue higher education only
with a condition of returning after completion as it is mentioned in my family “will” that we children will
not be eligible to inherit any assests if we decide to either stay separate from our parents or settled
abroad and thus settling in abroad in not in the list at all. As per the Indian Law all the properties would
belong to me being the next generation of my family. My family customs do not allow the properties to be
on my name solely unless I am 25 years old. Also, my family has assets in the form of mutual funds,
shares, bonds property worth INR 2.5 crore. Apart from this we have family and relatives in India and we
are very close with them.
CAREER PLANS:
Firstly, I took this decision of pursuing my qualification from an international country after taking time
and understanding the demand of Indian employers from the candidate and I got a vast picture of the
same by working for 9 months and thus I have a strong estimate on the probability on my career growth
and as to on what pace it would go demanding on my future steps so it was not that I took this decision
soon my Bachelors wherein I was completely unaware. Also, if I were to stay in India with my existing
profile then taking into consideration the 16% growth in normal private limited company I would get a
salary of INR 250000 per annum within the next 2 years in a place like Gujarat and if I move to other
metropolitan cities like Bangalore, Delhi and Pune I would be aiming at package of 500,000 INR per
annum wherein 50% costing would go in the living expenses thus ending up in the same package which I
would get in India.
Also, by pursuing my master’s here in India after investing 2 years will help me to get a job in
multinational mentioned with a starting salary of 350,000-400,000 lakhs per annum after investing 10
lakhs which is equivalent of 40,000 AUD for two years wherein definitely my return on investment is not
justified and I may not even meet the breakeven.
However, on the other end if I complete my Master of Management for Engineers from CQU Australia
wherein the graduate employment rate is 81.1% with 10 weeks of practical exposure included in the
course I would get a lot international exposure in terms of market research and industry base. Added
advantage to this I would want to take the benefit of the post study work permit wherein I would want to
work for 2 years and as per my research in seek.com.au. I am looking forward for a salary there in
Australia atleast 45000-55000 AUD per annum on a bare minimum scale and thus combining my 4 years
an overall exposure in Australia. If I am looking for an improved employment of a minimum package of
660000 – 750000 INR per annum in India. I believe that I have rated myself and my career on an
expected range and justifies my employment prospective in my home country in the future in comparison
to a qualification obtained locally.
Upon completion of my qualification I would work few months after obtaining post study work visa as I
would want to experience the international work culture and the market too to get the skills and
technology back to my home-country. After working for a year, I would want to come back to my home
country to start my career and settle in life. I believe with such huge demand I would get an opportunity
to work for Jyoti Ltd, Elmrad Engineering Co. Ltd, Elcen Machines Pvt Ltd, Environ Engeering Polytech
Industries etc. to work as Assistant Prsoject Manager, Senior Lead Analyst, Cost Systems Analyst,
Industrial Management Engineer, Sr Quality Assurance Engineer, Sr Supervisor Project Assistant, Project
Designer, Project coordinator, Project scheduler with an average package of INR 55,000- 65,000 per
month which is worth the money invested by my parents for my studies in Australia. I have done enough
research on job opportunities and salary offered by private and public firm from website and have a got
similar feedback from senior friends who are already working at national firms after getting international
experience so the referral opinion from the same has helped me to draw this estimated remuneration
upon returning to India after getting qualification from Australia.
