RC Ii-6 Self Concept

This document describes a learning experience called "My Portrait" that is intended to teach children about how they see themselves. The activity involves children using mirrors to draw portraits of themselves on cut-out paper figures using markers, crayons, and yarn for hair. Small groups of 4 or fewer children are instructed to use the mirrors to draw details of their own eye and hair color. The activity is developmentally appropriate for this age group because it allows children to recognize themselves and develop self-awareness through creating a self-portrait.
