1. Joint Survey:
The first attempt to the contract will be joint survey. Being ready from our side, we will ask to the
employer/consultant to conduct joint survey so that any discrepancies during the survey can be resolved at
the spot and finalization of the actual location of the site. Before starting any work “Request for Checking”
will be given to the Employer/Consultant and work will be started only after approval/work order from
employer/consultant.

2. Site Clearance:
Prior to the start of any work, lay-out the right-of-way, working areas, clearing, and pavement cutting to insure
a proper recognition and protection of the adjacent properties.

Ensure that the general shape, profile, and levels of the area are not materially altered during clearing and
grubbing operations. In order to avoid re-clearing or to control dust or erosion may have to clear and grub at
the latest practicable stage of construction. As technical requirement clearance including

 The removal of all trees and bushes (complete with roots), other vegetation, rubbish, fences, and all
other material that may interfere with the construction of the Work.

 The disposal of all material resulting from the clearing

 The removal of all rocks and boulders of size up to 0.2 m3 that are lying on the surface to be cleared or
exposed during the clearing operation.

3. Insurance:
The contractor is responsible for the insurance of all manpower, equipment, tools and the
works. The insurance of all necessary items shall be done from the commencement of the
works to the handover as well as Defect liability period.

4. Traffic Safety, Control Measures and temporary diversion.


During construction work being carried out everything necessary for the safe and easy
passage of all public traffic during construction.

A. Traffic Control Measures:


The works are carried out considering the least interference to the flow of traffic.The
approval of engineer will be taken regarding traffic control and management during
construction.
B. Temporary Diversion:
Wherever and whenever the existing road cannot be used by through traffic, diversion will
be made.

5. Materials:
All the materials will be used after performing lab test only. The collections of materials such as boulders,
aggregates, sand, cement, steel etc, will be done the date of start till the work is completed from the approved
source. The HDPE & GI Pipes will be bought from the approved manufactures within Nepal and DI pipes will
be imported from China or India after approval of the sources.

6. Earth works
Foundation excavation will be done by using excavators and or manual. Slope will be maintaining to
1:1.5 slopes. However, it may more than this depending on the nature of soils, site conditions and
instructions of the employer. The excavated materials will be used for filling and excess material will
be disposed in the designated area. Additional soils required for the filling will be brought from the
approved borrow pits if necessary.

7. RCC Works

7.1 Form Work:


Forms for concrete shall be constructed of metal or timber or plywood suitably lines where
required and be of a substantial and rigid construction to shape and dimensions shown on the
drawing. Where metal forms are used bolts and rivets shall be countersunk and will ground to
provide smooth and plane surface. Forms shall be mortar tight and shall be made sufficiently
rigid by the use of ties and bracings to prevent any displacements or sagging between
supports. It shall be strong enough to with stand all pressures, ramming and vibration.
Immediately before concreting all forms shall be thoroughly cleaned.

7.2 Reinforcement Work:


All Reinforcement to be used shall meet the special grade and parameters as required by the
contract. Reinforcement shall be clean and free from rust at the time of fixing in position and
subsequent concreting. Reinforcement steel shall conform accurately to the dimensions given
in the bar bending schedule shown on relevant drawing. Bars will be bent cold to the specified
shape and dimensions operated by hand or power to attain proper radii of bends. Bars will not
be bent or straightened in a manner that will injure the material. Hooks shall be suitable
encased to prevent any splitting or concrete.All reinforcement bars shall be accurately placed
in exact position and shall be securely held in position during placing of concrete by annealed
binding wire meeting the required of the specification and by using stay blocks or metal
chairs, spacers or other approved devices at sufficiently close intervals. Bars crossing each

other, where required sha ll be secured by binding wire (annealed) of size specified. As far as
possible, bars of full length shall be used. In case this is not possible, overlapping of bars shall
be done as directed by the Engineer. When practicable, overlapping bars shall not touch each
other, but kept apart by 25mm. or 1.25 times the maximum size of the aggregate.

7.3 Mixing Transporting, Planning And Compaction Of Concrete:

Concrete shall be mixed by using Mixer Machine, Mixing shall be continued till materials are
uniformly distributed and a uniform color or entire mass is obtained and each individual
particle of the coarse aggregate shows complete coating of mortar.
Concrete shall be so transported and placed manually and attention shall be paid for no
contamination, segregation or loss of its constituent materials take place. All formwork and
reinforcement contained in it shall be cleaned and made free from standing water, dust
immediately before placing of concrete. The concrete will be deposited between a minimum
and maximum temperature as specified in the specification. It shall be compacted in final
position within half an hour of its discharge from the mixer. The concrete shall be deposited in
horizontal layer to a compacted depth of usually not exceeding 45cm. Vibrators will be used
for compaction. When the concreting is to be resumed on a surface which has hardened it shall
be roughened, swept clean, thoroughly wetted and covered with a mortar layer of same
concrete mix. Vibration shall not be applied through reinforcement. In case of vibrators of
immersion type, contact with reinforcement shall be avoided as far as practicable.

7.4 Curing:

Immediately after compaction concrete shall be protected against harmful effects or weather
including rain, running water and drying process. It will be covered with wet sacking, Hessian
or other similar material approved by the Engineer soon after the initial set and shall be kept
continuously wet for a period of not less than 21 days from the date of placement or as
directed by the Engineer.

7.5 Finishing:

Immediately after removal of forms all fins caused by form joints, all cavities produced by the removal
of form ties and all other holes and depressions, honey comb sports, broken edges or corners shall be
thoroughly cleaned and carefully pointed and rendered true with mortar of cement and fine aggregate
mixed in the proportions used in the grade of concrete.

7.6 Safety:

Safety will receive due attention. Work force will be provided with helmet, gumboot, hand glove,
mask, and special dress appropriate with the nature of the work. Fire extinguisher and first aid
requirements will be available stand by.

For pedestrians and vehicular traffic, control will be achieved through traffic sign, flag man, and road
barrier as required.

7.7 False Work:

False work will be constructed to substantially conform the false work drawing. The material used in
false work construction will be the quality necessary to sustain the stress required.

Suitable jacks or wedges will be used in connection with false work to set the form at the required
grade and to take up excessive settlement in the false work either before or during the placing of
concrete.

Removal of False Work will be done as per the requirement of the works or as per satisfaction of the
engineer.

8. Pipe Line Works

Trench excavator for transmission line shall be done by excavator and manually as well as applicable.
Pipe lay shall be commence only after the bottom of the trench and the pipe beds have been approved
by the Engineer's representative. Pipes shall be laid on the specified bedding cradle true to designated
line and level. Adjustments to line and grade should be made by scrapping away or adding adequately
compacted foundation material under the pipe and not using wedges and blocks or beating on the pipe.
All joints shall be made with care so that the interior surface is smooth and consistent with the interior
surface of the pipes. After finishing, the joint shall be kept covered. The Hume pipes used shall be of
vertical vibro casting method only. The reinforcement to be used shall be with automated spot welding
caging system.
9. Manholes and Connections Chambers Covers
Covers and frames for manholes, connection chambers and grid inlets shall be of cast iron or precast
concrete as specified in BOQ and Drawings. These shall be supplied in matching sets, each set bearing a
serial number to enable them to be identified. For manholes constructed in carriageway and shoulders,
heavy duty circular covers and frames shall be used. In footpaths, medium duty circular covers shall be
used. In other locations light duty covers and frames shall be used. The use of types of manhole covers
shall be as shown in the drawing or directed by the engineer.

10. Road Works

Roadway Excavation in Soil


Detail joint survey of the section shall be carried out along with the Preparation and approval
of the Working drawings and according to this approved drawing Layout shall be plotted in
the field. Checking and verification of the layout shall be carried out by the engineer. The
excavation shall be preceded to the line, levels and slopes. Transportation of the excavated
material shall be carried out to the spoil tips and stock suitable materials for further use at
space available near side of the road without disturbing traffic movement. Identify areas to

spoil unsuitable material. Checking of cut line, levels and slopes as per drawings shall be
carried out and Repetition will be carried out if necessary until the approval of the section.

Sub Grade Preparation


The Preparation of sub grade includes shall include all the operations before the pavement
structure could be laid over it and compacted. Thus operation of the sub grade shall include
site clearance, grading (embankment or cut section) and compaction. Preparation of the road
surface shall be carried with the help of motor Grader to achieve design gradient and cross
slope. Compaction by Roller in filling-layer wise compaction shall be made by maintaining
OMC to get maximum dry density as per the Specification. The line, level, cross slope and
density of sub grade shall be checked. After approval Engineer shall be notified to proceed the
laying of the sub-base.

Gravel Sub- Base


Sub-base materials shall be stockpiled in the stockpile yard and shall be notified to the
Engineer for necessary checking. After the approval of the material, the gravel sub base shall
be transported and dumped on the approved sub – grade layer and Mixing of sub-base
material on road with the help of grader shall be carried out at site. Oversize particles shall be
either break manually or pickup at site with the help of labors. Spraying of water close to the
OMC by water browser and moisture content shall be checked and if water content is more
than OMC, it shall be left to sundry until it comes to OMC and if water content is less than
OMC add water to bring to OMC after that Spreading of the sub-base material to the required
shape, grade and depth shall be done and Rolling shall be started from edge to center on
straight section and from inner edge to outer edge on the super elevated section and field
density shall be checked as per the specification. Checking of line and levels of the finished
surface and approved gravel sub-base layer shall partly covered by on coming layer of CRM
and approval of the completed section shall be done.

Crushed Stone Material for Base


Approval of the source of rock stone shall be carried out for producing CRM then Production
of the CRM in the crusher plant shall be done along with testing of CRM material as per test
frequency presented in the appendix and approval of the stockpile shall be done. After the
approval of the material, the CRM sub base shall be transported and dumped on the approved
sub – grade layer and Mixing of sub-base material on road with the help of grader at site shall
be completed and spraying of water close to the OMC by water browser and shall be checked
up to the moisture content and If water content is more than OMC, it shall be left to sundry
until it comes to OMC and if water content is less than OMC water shall be added to bring to
OMC. Spreading of the sub-base material to the required shape, grade and depth along with
rolling started from edge to center on straight section and from inner edge to outer edge on the
super elevated section shall be carried out and checking of field density as per the

specification also checking line and levels of the finished surface shall be done and finally
approval shall be done of the completed section.

11. Gabion Works


River training works is to protect the proposed interceptor sewers and resolve the inundation in critical
areas by the construction of retaining walls along the banks of the river. Machine woven Gabion shall
be used of double twisted wire mesh container of relatively smaller height as compared to other
dimensions, uniformly partitioned into internal cells by means of diaphragms and having smaller mesh
openings than the mesh used for gabions. The stone used for gabion shall be hard, tough, sound, and
clean and derived from a source and shall be approved by the Engineer.

12. Wood Works


Shall use the Quality of timber as per specification and shall be Timber of well-seasoned, air
dried or Kiln dried Submission and approval of sample and Care shall be taken throughout the
Construction period against damage during installation and Defect Liability Period.

13. Plastering Works


Approval shall be carried out of the source and type of sand gradation to be used along with
the testing of cement, sand, Mortar as per the specification. Approval shall be of the type and
condition of the material used for the work and Preparation, transportation, pouring in place as
per Specification and drawing. Proper Curing shall be done of the completed section as per
specification and final approval shall be of the completed section.

14. Brick Work


Shall use the First class Chimney made Bhatta Brick of approved quality and Test and shall be
laid in the ratio as per specification.

15. Sanitary Work

First quality of all the Pipes and fitting shall be used and all the Pipe, fittings shall be as per
specification along with the approval of sample. Placing of all the Pipes and fittings shall be as per
drawing and specification.

16. Electrical Works

All the electrical system should be of approved quality and shall be installed as per specification.

Safety and precaution class will take to the supervisors and labors. First aid box will be provided.
Safety tools like: Globes boot, helmet will be also provided to the workers etc.
