Part A: Design a Lesson Plan: for Grade Four or five (at the Elementary Level) following the
below guidelines (10 pts.)

 The Thematic Unit is ‘Usage of Modern Technology in Some Fields’

 The lesson plan should include the use of technology whether through a PowerPoint,

video, interactive board, etc…

 The lesson plan should follow the below format

 You need to include a copy of the lesson material/hand-outs the students have.

Lesson Plan Template

Lesson Name: Day/Date: __________

Lesson Information:

 Class/Level: Age, topic, skill level, class name, etc…

Resources and Materials

List everything you need to teach this lesson. List every possible thing you will need to take to
the classroom, and/or obtain from the school, to complete the lesson. Make sure to include the
name and information of the used textbook, the needed stationary or equipment needed. You can
use bullet points to list the resources and materials needed.

Goal/Aim

What are we working towards today? Describe the final result of the lesson.

The students will be able to: _____ (use active/action verbs) _________________.

Grammar Structures Employed

List the structures (usually 2 or 3) to be covered or emphasized in this lesson. Describe how they
are formed and show examples of these structures.

Warm-up

This includes a review (revision) of the previous lesson linked to this new lesson through
questions and answers to elicit conversation using the new structure and function and to show
examples of what the students will learn in this lesson.

3
Presentation

In the presentation, the teacher does about 75% of the speaking. In this context, teachers present
new concepts, model vocabulary/structure/function, etc. to the class.

Practice

Students speak about 60% of the time, teachers 40%. In their contributions, students are
expected to model vocabulary, dialogue, pronunciation, intonation, etc. A practice exercise is
used for pair/group work that is monitored by the teacher. Practice is done by the students at their
desks, and it should progress from basic level to more advanced. At this point, students’
performance should not be graded.

Production

Students speak, write, listen and practice what they have learned. Students speak 90% of the
time, you 10% - only to correct if necessary. A production exercise is given - generally not the
same sheet of exercise/activity that was done in the practice section.

Conclusion

Discussion and recapitulation of what has been covered in class.

Part B: lesson plan in-class activities and tasks in detailed description (5 pts.)
Design in-class activities for each stage of your lesson plan on ‘Usage of Modern Technology in
Some Fields’.

Part C: lesson plan in-class/virtual presentation (5 pts.)

Give a 10 minutes’ demo-class presentation of your lesson plan using PowerPoint presentation
template.

4
Lesson Plan
Day/Date:
Lesson Name: Usage of Modern Technology in Some Field
Thursday
Lesson Information: 7/11/2021

 Starting PowerPoint Saving a presentation Exiting PowerPoint.

Resources and Materials

In the lesson, we will use

1. Laptops are ideal (PC or Chromebooks) because the software lesson instructions
are based on the desktop version of the programs.
2. Access to either MS Office or Google Apps products. There are units on each of
the software programs for MS Office and Google Apps.
3. MS Office 2016 or above

Goal/Aim

At the end of the lesson, the student will be able to launch the program, save a file, and exit the
program. The student will also be able to correctly identify the default file extension of a
PowerPoint program.

Warm-up (5 minutes)

The student will be able to: Use the Start menu to locate the Program Manager and PowerPoint
icon. The PowerPoint program's icon in Program Manager can be used to launch it. Create a new
document. Make a copy of the file. Exit the application. Determine a PowerPoint file's naming
convention (.ppt). If time and resources allow, the student will also demonstrate the ability to:
Identify the PowerPoint shortcut on the desktop or toolbar (if one exists). The PowerPoint
shortcut will open the PowerPoint software. Rep the "save and leave" procedure.

Presentation

 Discuss the various ways in what are the benefits of using PowerPoint.

 Give an overview of PowerPoint

 Explain how to start creating your first presentation through powerpoint

5
Practice

1. Start Microsoft Windows.

2. Click Start.
3. Select Programs from the menu.
4. Select MS PowerPoint 2003.
5. To start the software, double-click it. PowerPoint opens and a new file is
created. It's a good idea to save your work on a daily basis while you're
working on files. But, even though we won't be making any slides right
now, we'll save a practice file.
6. From the File menu, select Save. The Save As dialog box appears when
you're saving the file for the first time.
7. In the File Name window, type the name of your file, such as My tutorial.
It's worth noting that you don't have to type in a file extension.
PowerPoint's default file extension is.ppt. This is a good example. So, if
you had two files in "My Documents," cars.doc and cars.ppt, you'd know
one is a Word document and the other is a PowerPoint presentation.
8. Click the OK button if you still want to save the file. If you change your
mind after typing in the filename, you can still cancel by not clicking the
OK button at this stage. The file remains on the screen, with the new
filename My tutorial.ppt appearing in the bar above the slide.
9. You can exit PowerPoint at any time you want. Just choose Exit from the
File menu.

PowerPoint closes and you return to the Program Manager if you only
saved the presentation. If you have a shortcut to PowerPoint on your
screen or toolbar, consider using it:

1. DoubleClick the shortcut icon.

2. ???What happens here--does it try to open a new file or does it try
to ask you if you want to open the file you just created?? Not sure--
you'd have to check.
3. Based on what happens in step
4. if they open their previous file, have them type their initials in the
text area and resave the file as part of the independent practice:.

Production

We need to check if the students

 Can the student find the menu items and icons?

 Can the student launch the program?

6
 Can the student create a new file, Save As a new file, and Exit the program?
 If time: Can the student get into PowerPoint in other ways besides the Program Manager
(i.e., through desktop shortcut or toolbar icon, if present)?
 Can the student alter the file and resave it?

Conclusion

 This was just a quick overview of MS PowerPoint, including how to open it, generate a
file, save a file, and exit it. The next time we meet, we'll make a three-slide presentation.

Part B: lesson plan in-class activities and tasks in detailed description (5 pts.)
