Significance of the Study

Many teachers, parents, and learners have been unprepared for this sudden shift, bringing some of

the hardships and issues of increased parental involvement to the surface while engaging and trying to

assist their children in various levels and types of distance learning. Whether you call it remote learning,

online learning, or distance learning, the education of every student looks different during the COVID-19

pandemic. Some students are thriving with this way of learning, many students don’t seem to be engaging

in it. Some students may not be present at all. Others may be in attendance, but they aren’t turning in

work or doing more than the bare minimum. Research shows that students who are genuinely engaged

persevere despite challenges. Engaged students are attentive and curious. They find meaning in what

they’re learning, whether their classroom is virtual. In this study, researchers aim to know the barriers and

the solution to each of it so that there’s no one who will left behind. This study had significance for:

STEM Students of Fiat Lux Academe. Many students rely on the structure and support of the

in-person school to help them stay on track with their school works. On the other hand distance learning,

students need to be more independent and responsible for their own learning. In this study, the STEM

Students of FLA will know the importance of learning even there are barriers that affected students’

learning, students’ mental health, and physical health. Students are dealing with stress, anxiety, lack of

time, and trauma. This research will give the students’ realization that learning is important no matter

what barriers come their way. Through this study, they can give their fellow students motivation to

continue their education and reach their dreams, ambitions, and goals in life even there are barriers in

their study. Like what happens right now, we're facing a pandemic but our government still do their best

to continue our education even our country is facing so many problems. So we must do our best to help

each other out.

Teachers. The teachers also have significance in this study because teachers are also

experiencing difficulties and barriers in a new type of their teaching which has an effect on their teaching
to the students but even there are barriers in their teaching, they still teach the students and they do their

best to let the children learn no matter what. This research is significant for the teacher because they are

one of the reasons why students have the perseverance to study and learn even though there are barriers.

Teachers will make the students realize that education is important even though there are barriers in

teaching. In this study, the teachers will get a chance to know and understand every student so that the

relationship that they have will be great and that is one way to successful learning.

Parents. Many students and teachers have had to adjust to the new type of learning from home

which means that parents have had to adjust too. Feelings of parents towards remote learning are mixed.

Some parents feel more connected to their child’s schoolwork while others see this as an additional

burden. The parents are significant in this research because they are the reason why the students continue

to learn and achieve their dreams even though there are so many difficulties and barriers in learning in

this time of pandemic and they are also ones who give strength to the teachers and students to not give up

easily. In this study, parents will have an idea of how they will be able to handle and help their children so

that the burden of their children will lessen and that is one of the ways not to lead their children into stress

or depression.
