NSU Campus Classes and Online Classes

"Education is the light that shows us the way towards our destination, and enables us to carry that precious
wealth with us for generations." With the progress of technological developments, learning methods have
also evolved over time. Accompanied by these developments, as universities started to make greater use of
the internet, online classes have grown widely in recent times. But, this unfortunate ordeal of the
coronavirus has compelled educational institutions to shut down all across the world, and confined people in
their homes. As e-learning gained the ground recently, the education system has changed dramatically.
Online learning has provided the scope for students to continue their studies in the midst of this dreadful
situation. In response to university closures, North South University also started its journey of online class
not too long after the quarantine started. Although online learning has earned its appreciation, from my point
of view, studying in my university campus is more effective than studying at home through online class. In
my opinion, while both have similarities in active participation, proper time management and work or
assignments, they have differences in interaction, learning styles and effectiveness. 

All learning requires diligent participation of students. "Optimum class management and effectiveness
depend on students being actively engaged, supportive of each other, and civil in their exchanges." said Ken
Petress. In the on-campus classes, most of the students in my class tried to actively participate in any
discussion which allowed them to view a matter from a wider range of perspectives along with better
understanding. Similarly, in online classes, participation of students is equally important which can be
through audio conference or written discussions in the message board. It can be said that active involvement
or engagement in online and campus classes is an overriding need. 

In both online class and class on campus time management is an absolute necessity for students. Learning
in both environments has made me understand that time management is a crucial element for effective
learning. Planning and allocating time to perform the tasks is pertinent to both cases. The strategy I follow is
to strictly abide by my work schedule to achieve my goals like completing assignments in time for both
circumstances. Just as classes on campus require us to organize our time to do homework, assignments and
studying outside class, online classes also require us to do work or assignment, study course materials and
lectures timely. It is evident to me that many benefits come along with managing time wisely in online
classes and classes on campus. 

Assignments and works are assigned in both on-campus learning and online learning. Giving
assignments related to practical application of that knowledge with an inquiry of creativity and critical
thinking is normally used to examine or test the learning outcome of the students on a particular course.
Similarly, assignments and works are given in online classes with the same motive of increment in
practical skills of students. Previously, my faculties used to give assignment and work projects to assess
how much we learned through lectures and handouts. 
The approach of giving assignments by my faculties in online classes was an effective way of measuring
how much the students could comprehend from any particular lesson. 

First, there is a difference between online class and on campus class in terms of interaction. To begin
with, communicative approach by interaction between teacher and students, and also students and students
is a prime factor in both types of classes. Students are expected to glean information from their faculties
through discussions and inquiries. In case of on-campus learning, continuous and direct interaction between
students and teachers is possible because of face to face communication, which helps the teaching and
learning process run smoothly. Whereas in online classes, interaction is not very much noticed. During
campus classes, students voluntarily engaged in discussions with teachers and students or asked or
answered questions. But in online classes, students seemed more shy and rigid or unwilling to contribute,
which impede the scope of getting a wider range of perspectives. 

Second, online classes are quite different from on-campus classes with regards to learning style. Online
learning caters more to students with independent learning styles. Whereas, on-campus learning tends to
favor collaborative learning styles. In the context of online learning, students are more likely to be self-
directed like studying, completing assignments and achieving academic goals on their own keeping. On the
other hand, on campus classes create a cooperative learning environment which offers opportunities for
interaction to students. Both the learning processes have their own unique style and can impact a student's
ability to succeed. 
 Third, online class and on-campus class can differ in regard to their efficiency and productivity. In online
class, student productivity and responsiveness might be at its lowest due to various reasons like timidity of
students, lack of attention, the bad internet connection and so. But in campus class, there are no such
barriers for students to be active and responsive. According to me, online class can be a less effective way
of learning as the teacher cannot give equal attention to every student. Moreover, without face to face
interaction, it's hard to access a student's grasp on a subject for teachers which leaves a chance that the
student could not cope up with the class. However, in campus class teachers can ensure a student's
productivity, responsiveness and better understanding. 

In brief, online class and campus class have similarities in the requirement of participation of students,
managing time wisely and giving assignments and works. On the contrary, they have differences in terms of
interaction, learning styles also in effectiveness and productivity. Learning on campus and online learning
both have their own uniqueness and resemblance in individual ways. Both of the learning methods can be
effective for students with different needs and abilities. From my perspective, classes on the NSU campus
were way more effective and beneficial for me than online classes. Regardless of the similarities and
differences in the two, these can benefit students in their respective ways.

Reasons Why I Chose NSU and The Effects

 For as long as I can remember, my dream was to get admitted to a prestigious university to study BBA. It
was the perennial culture, which is proved by the long history of triumph, which influenced my decision to
get admitted to North South University. At present, North South University sustains a flattering reputation in
people's mind. It would not be wrong to say that this university has procured the honor of being the most
renowned and elite private university in Bangladesh.  A university with such acclamation is undeniably
fascinating in my judgement. The foremost reasons that made me choose to enroll in NSU are the illustrious
education quality along with prominent faculty, the picturesque campus and the constructive facilities.
Consequently, getting admitted to this university has made me take a turn for the better by enriching my
knowledge, developing my communication skills and honing my abilities so I can thrive towards a better
future.

      The illustrious education quality as well as the prominent faculty of NSU is highly notable. Considering
the present sociological situation of our country, if we want to live in this society as respectful residents, it is
very significant to be well established in our life. For that, quality education and proper guidance is a must.
With regard to receiving such education, this university can be recognized as one of the best performing
ones currently running academic activities in Bangladesh. Among all the other private universities, the BBA
department in NSU is reckoned as the most esteemed one. Accordingly, I, along with most other students
who were interested in BBA like me, choose this university. The prolific options for courses in various and
discrete topics or subjects available are mentionable. These immaculately constructed courses can widely
enrich the realm of our knowledge. To sustain such a top-notch education quality, the universities ensure
that the faculties are competent enough to accommodate the needs of all the students at the same time. The
faculties of this university are indeed an undeniable factor to be praised. At present, the faculty includes
members who are exceedingly qualified on their designated subjects, most of whom are PhD or Doctorate
holders. Some are even owners of foreign degrees.

     Campus is an integral part of a university. A substantial and well decorated campus is a prerequisite
component of a standard university. NSU has one of largest campuses among all the private universities in
Bangladesh. To be precise, it holds the position of having the 2nd largest campus among private universities
in Bangladesh. This campus sustains the ability to serve up to 20000 students with amenities and facilities.
Aside from the campus itself being extraordinary, it also happens to be quite close to my residence so that is
also an advantage on my part.

     NSU provides its students with various types of constructive facilities to do them a good turn. The library
of this university is the first fully automated library in Bangladesh. It also has extracurricular club facilities,
foreign affairs programs, career placement center, research center and many more to provide the students a
better future. Another major reason for my choice of university is the collaborations that NSU has with other
globally recognized foreign academic institutes. I plan on studying abroad for my master's degree so
studying at NSU will grant me a huge advantage in getting accepted to universities in other countries. There
are also various clubs increasing the potential of students besides educational knowledge by performing
activities like holding inter and intra competitions. These mentionable facilities have made a significant
impact on my decision of getting admitted to NSU.

     The university has a radical amount of contribution to my academic or educational knowledge, besides
outer knowledge. The variety of courses available along with business-oriented ones has effectively polished
my knowledge in general subjects which I had lost touch with. My writing method and verbal conducts are
gradually developing to a great extent. Moreover, with the help of competent faculties I have come to learn
about many unknowns. The meticulous way of teaching of the faculties are helping me to develop better
understanding of my courses. The well-organized course materials and lectures provided by the faculties are
beneficial for me. It was evident to me that the proficiency of the faculties along with the education system
and quality of NSU is indeed commendable.
     The club activities and the ideal surroundings of NSU has immensely built my communication skills. The
participation in the club activities has helped me heaps in grooming my overall personality. Through the
club I get acquainted with new people, learn new skills, earn confidence along with getting better in problem
solving and time management. I'm in a business-oriented club which is helping me academically besides
enhancing my people skills. Moreover, having club experience can be helpful for my future career. These
remarkable resources are extremely advantageous for me and my future career.

     The environment and surrounding of NSU has flourished me to become a better version of me.
University is a place that brings people from diverse different backgrounds together, weaving memorable
experiences that last a lifetime. NSU has given me the scope of interaction with this vast group of people
which matured me by lessening my passivity. Mixing with people from diverse backgrounds, trying to
discover and experiencing new things thereby is broadening my horizons. The resemblance that this
university has with foreign environment equipped me with social skills to work in just about any work
environment. In many ways this experience has fulfilled and surpassed my expectations.

     To enroll in NSU was a significant decision in my life which was eventually for the better. The well-
designed education system and quality, the stupendous campus and the facilities of NSU was fascinating
enough for me to choose this university. Favorably, it alleviated my knowledge, skills and flourished me
with lots of experience and memories. In conclusion, my university experience includes the activities and
societies that I took part in and the skills that I've learned from them as well as the memories and friends that
I've made so far.
