LETTER TO THE READERS

Dear readers,

Thank you.

Your time is precious. You do me a great honor stopping by. I will repay your kindness
with a promise to make your time here fulfilling, enriching, and perhaps even transformative.

I made this portfolio so you can learn about who I am outside of school and read what I
learn in it. I want this portfolio to show not only my work but how I learn to work with other
people and just do my work. I can say one of the most important things I learned while doing all
of these projects is to grow up. I just want to say that I am thankful to be part of the BLGU of
Eastern Poblacion family although I am just an immersion student. I learn a lot about BLGU of
Eastern Poblacion and I am proud to serve the people and blessed because all of the barangay
officials and the barangay workers are so kind, and patient.

I hope your having fun reading this portfolio just like what I’ve experienced while
working as an immersion student. I had so much fun and I found out that everyone is unique in
their own way like their experiences, perception, intelligence, creativity, genetics personality and
many more. I learn a lot of advices came from work. I hope you appreciate the time I took for
this portfolio and also I hope my experience will give you aspiration. I believe you will
experience it too.

Yours Truly,

Danniel C. Szwast

INTRODUCTION

Work immersion is a key feature in the Senior High School curriculum and refers to the part of
that consists of 80 hours of hands-on experience or work simulation which Grade12 students will
undergo to expose them to the actual work setting and to enrich the competencies provided by
the school.With the four exits envisioned for SHS graduates namely, higher education,
entrepreneurship, employment or middle-level skills development the first batch of Grade 12
learners are expected to become full-fledged contributors to the social development and nation-
building. Work immersion is a key subject under the SHS curriculum that is conducted in
different ways and time frame as needed by SHS learners. The subject provides learners with
opportunities to become familiar with the workplace; for employment simulation, and to apply
their competencies in areas of specialization/applied subjects in authentic work environments.
The said learning experience that the students can get from it will surely enable and help students
as they familiarize themselves with the workplace simulation and apply their competencies in
their particular areas. The completion of work immersion is a prerequisite to graduation under
the K-12 program. It aims to hone globally competitive citizens, with its specialized curriculum,
gearing Filipino students for further studies, employment or entrepreneurship. Experience is
considered to be one of life’s greatest teachers. As trainees, we can use it as a motivation as we
gain expertise in our respective fields. This experience will surely help us not only for our life as
students but also our future job as professional employees of the country.
Objectives of the Work Immersion

1. Gain relevant and practical industrial skills under the guidance of industry experts and
workers;

2. Appreciate the importance and application of the principles and theories taught in the
classroom;

3. Enhance their technical knowledge and skills;

4. Prepare them to meet the needs and challenges of employment, entrepreneurship, or

higher education after their graduation.

OBSERVATION AND INSIGHTS

During my work experience I was fortunate enough to have experienced first hand and
learned, many different sides of what goes into a project, the general process of how a project is
initially planned, developed and completed; as well as how much work and detail goes into every
stage. Another valuable lesson I have learned during these 2 weeks.

Reflecting back to my first day at, it was one of the most memorable days of my time at
work. After being introduced to everyone, I was handed a tender to work on, in which they had
asked me for recommendations to improve certain aspects of the project wherever I see fit, as
well as my opinions on the project as an entirety. They were very open and happy for me to
contribute as much as I wanted to, and were open to any suggestions and ideas. This instantly
made me feel comfortable and definitely made me feel as though I was part of the team.
