Thesis Statement: A Vital Element in Expository Essays

As we have been told before, the thesis is the column in the construction of a good
essay. Many times, as students we state the thesis in our first paragraph at the
moment, we start our essay and then we digress or lose it in the following
paragraphs. This article shows us precisely the errors that we must avoid when
proposing our thesis in terms of expository essays which are often difficult to
construct for students, it gives us to understand the importance of grammatical
rules; Although it seems like a A minor aspect, the proper use of punctuation is
essential if we want the thesis to appear clear and without any adhesions of
ambiguity, for the construction of our essay, because the punctuation marks, well
used, become strategic pieces for the assembly of the thesis. In the end it takes us
to a field study and the results obtained by the students.

STEP 2 SUMMARY

I share the summary of the web conference:

During the web conference a clear explanation was given about the importance of
the APA standards and the document where they are registered was shown, Task
2 was also explained the importance of reading the documents assigned to carry
out an excellent job, the teacher told us about her experience as a writer and the
importance of reading in the formulation of a thesis. She made a small sketch of
what task 3 consists of and the importance of the opinion paragraphs for the
essays. To conclude, a revision of the rubric was made to work on this task and the
importance of applying APA standards.
Assignment 5

1. Choose one of the thesis statements from Lesson 3, and write three topic
sentences that you could use for paragraphs in a rough draft.

Thesis statement: The U. S. government should support early childhood

programs for babies addicted to crack because most of these children are raised in
homes lacking adequate stimulation.

Sentence 1: Problems generated by drug abuse can be effectively treated if

affected people have access to appropriate treatment and rehabilitation services to
meet their needs.

Sentence 2: Elaboration of a strategic treatment framework.

Sentence 3: Observation of the development of the treatment and the results.

that could go anywhere in a rough draft.

homes lacking adequate stimulation.

Babies who are exposed to drugs in the womb may be born before term or weigh
less than normal. This exposure can slow down the child's ability to learn and also
affect future behavior. The creation of a program that supports children who are
victims of this disease would be fundamental to avoid all the problems that they will
bring to the future.

supporting reasons that you could use to convince your reader of your

drugs

Sentence 3: Regulating medical marijuana will increase the crime associated with
the use of this drug

paragraph.

No medicine is safe. As with other substances, cannabis can have side effects,
such as drowsiness, disorientation, confusion, and hypotension, which can be
controlled by reducing doses. In many these effects develop tolerance and
disappear within a few days. However, for therapeutic use, there is no information
on the negative effects of marijuana use, such as lung damage or the immune

disorders or psychotic crises, among others. people testify that using marijuana for
medicinal purposes relieves various types of chronic pain, including pain from
nerve damage.

Creationists, the two ideas are very similar.

Dr. Dobzhansky, author of Mankind Evolving, even goes so far as to say,

“Christianity is a religion that is implicitly evolutionistic, in that it believes history to
be meaningful.” In fact, evolution and Creation can be combined and accepted as
one general explanation of mankind’s origin. These two explanations are not in
conflict with one another, but actually need one another in order to complete the
answer to mankind’s questions.

c. Does the introduction get your attention? Explain your answer.

If it draws my attention since the origin of humanity has always had two discussed

Then, use the strategies in this lesson to write an introduction to the paper.

3. Read the conclusions to three different pieces of writing. They can come
from a newspaper, your own writing, a magazine, a classmate’s writing, and
so on. Then, answer the questions below.

Thesis statement: Should public school students be required to take sex

education classes? Why or why not?

f. Do they restate the thesis statement?

if you repeat the importance of the right to education

g. Do they summarize the main points of the piece?

Summary:

Confinement has shown consequences in children such as anxiety disorders,

depressives and symptoms of post-traumatic stress, according to Dr. Viviana
Duarte. In the case of children with special abilities it is no different, they cannot
understand exactly why they cannot go out or go to class with their friends. This
socialization is important for the child, because it allows them to learn to share, to
get used to group contact, to show affection or to be able to play with each other.

h. What is the take-home message of each piece?

Socialization is important for children with these syndromes. For this reason, as
parents, we must seek strategies that generate this routine in our children.

4. Choose one of the thesis statements you fleshed out in an earlier lesson.
Then use the strategies in this lesson to write a conclusion to the paper.
Thesis statement: Should public school students be required to take sex
education classes? Why or why not?

Strategies:

• In what grades will the classes be held?

• What benefits would these classes bring to the student community?

• What methodology will be used?

• What can you teach using technology tools? What limitations are there in
terms of teaching this class?

• When will this class be included in the curriculum?

CONCLUSION: All people need to know about sexuality to know ourselves better
and understand some things that happen with our physical and emotional
development. but this information must be treated by professionals in schools and
with the support of parents.

STEP 3

Introduction

For years, people have been talking and arguing about the so-called sexual
education in schools, both public and private. whether or not the opinion of the
parents should be listened to regarding this whole issue; especially if, it should
start from kindergarten, at the earliest age. The topic is too broad to cover in an
essay; therefore, we will try to talk about the training and the importance that
adolescents both at home and at school should know about sexuality.

Argument:

Dr. John Meeks, director of child and adolescent services at the Washington
Psychiatric Institute, wrote:

“This latency period is extremely important in the development of the skills catalog,
which is very broad… The latency focus is collecting information about the world
and developing skills in dealing with it. Much prior curiosity about the sexual is
sublimated in order to fulfill these tasks. Clearly, the unnecessary stimulation of
direct interests can interfere with such tasks. Sex explained in the classroom,
produces an interaction that is explicit and directed to anatomical details of sexual
activity between human beings and produces an unfortunate interference with the
normative development, which is in process at that age Sexuality is basically a
matter of Private character and by itself does not produce serious levels of
responsibility in social consequences and this is what modern educators on
sexuality are doing: they inform, show, but do not relate values to it.

Conclusion:

It is essential that each teacher and, in a particular way, each educational

institution, analyze the values that their curriculum contemplates, how the school
understands respect, family, coexistence, sexuality, sexual orientation, what is the
participation of the family, students and teachers. “… The school can be a place
where cultural inequalities are reproduced or a space where intercultural
encounters take place” (Martínez; 2012. p. 27).
