Phase 1: Research and Early Planning

Early on you need to scope out the wedding, it is important that you are both on
the same page with this.  Questions to ask: How big will it be? What style of
wedding do you want, formal, informal etc.  Church or Venue Ceremony? Make a
list individually of your wishes and priorities, combine the list to find common
ground.  From this create a clear vision of what your day will look like.

Research Ideas and create a Pinterest account to help collate and organise your
ideas.
Decide on the style of wedding i.e formal, informal, laid back, boho, rustic make a
list of all the words you would use to describe your event, then group them to
create a common theme. Discard any that don't fit.
Plan a theme or colour scheme
Decide where your ceremony will be at.
Determine a rough guest list, this will give you an idea of the capacity you need
your venue to cater for.
Decide on the bridal party, i.e bridesmaids, maid of honour, ushers, best man,
flowergirls and page boys are all official roles

Phase 2: Planning the Budget

Now you are both on the same page and you have a clear vision of what your day
will be about, the things that are important to you both etc.  It is time to start
putting some more plans into action Before you do, it is vitally important you set
or discuss the wedding budget.  Next to your house purchase this will be your
next biggest expense.
