Lesson - 5 Finding The Percent, Rate and Base in A Given Problem
Explanatory Activity:
Relationship of three terms – it indicates the formulas use in finding
the missing term.
Formulas:
P=BxR
P B=
P
B R R
P
R= B
Application:
4500
B = .30
B = 15,000 or ₱15,000
Problem 3: Finding the Rate
Mrs. Orceo has 18 boys and 22 girls in her class. What percent of the
students are girls?
Since there are 18 boys and 22 girls, the total number of the studenrs
are 40.
R =?
P = 22 – total number of students
B = 40 – number of boys
Solution using formula:
P
R= B
22
R = 40
120 = .30 x N
Solution:
120 = .30 x N
120 = .30N
120 .30 N
.30
= .30
400 = N
Example 2: 45 is what percent of 90? Finding the Rate
45 = P x 90
Solution:
45 = N x 90
45 = 90N
45 90N
90
= 90
45 = .50 or 50%
.25 x 350 = N
Solution: .25 x 350 = n
87.5 = N
