Combined Footing For Two

This document provides design calculations for a square combined footing to support two columns. It includes calculations for the footing size, reinforcement requirements, bending moment, shear force, and development length. The footing size is determined to be 3.4m x 3.4m based on the total load. The maximum bending moment is calculated as -145.6346 kNm. The required area of longitudinal reinforcement is determined to be 1004.096 mm2 using a reinforcement depth of 450mm. Shear and development length checks are also provided.

FONDATION DESIGN FOR SQUARE FOOTING :

Given : FOR footing of column B3 Joinf ID 14

Size of the column = 400*400 mm
= 0.40 m
Material Properties :
Grade of concrete (fck) = M 20 N/mm2
For steel (fy) = 500 N/mm2
Bearing Capacity of soil qu = 150 KN/m2

Load Calculation :
Load on Column wc = 238 KN
Self Wt of footing wf = 24 KN
Total Load wc + wf = 262 KN

Area of Footing :
A = wc + wf
qu
A = 1.75 m2
Side of square footing = 1.3 m
say 2.40 m
Factored soil pressure due to column load only
Pu = 61.98 KN/m2

bending moment at critical section (Mu) 74.375 KNm

effective depth reqired is Mu=0.138*Fck*b*(d^2)

we get d=
so we adopt effective depth D= 600 mm

check for shear one way

shear force(Vu)= 59.5 KN
nominal shear stress Ʈv= 0.0413194 N/mm2
assuming 0.2% steel Ʈc = 0.32 N/mm2
if Ʈv< Ʈc then results is ok OK

check for shear two way

shear force(Vu)= 61.070139 KN
Normal shear stress Ʈv= 0.0254459 N/mm2

shear strength Ʈc = 1.118034 N/mm2

if Ʈv< Ʈc then results is ok OK
Area of Steel Reinforcement :
Mu = 0.87*fy*Ast*d*(1-(Ast/bd)*(fy/fck)) eq 1
Mu= 74.375 KNm
fy= 500 N/mm2
fck= 20 N/mm2
b= 2.40 m
d= 600 mm
solving eq 1 we get
Area of Steel Reinforcement :
Ast= 1239.19 mm2

Using Diameter of the bars = 12 mm

ast = 113.04 mm2

Required Spacing = 218.9301

we provide 12mm @ 150mm c/c spacing

provide Ast = 1808.64 > 1239.19 OK

Check for Development Length :

Ld = ɸ(0.87*fy)
4*Ʈbd

= 679.6875

actual embedment length provided from face of the column is

= 0.95 m
950 mm
CHECK:(if greater than LD,OK)
RESULT: OK
Material Properties :
