Scenario 1. Wake up Early or Sleep in?

Table 1. Number of students who only sleep in, who only wake up early, and who do both
Sleep in only Wake up early only Sleep in & wake up early Total
# of participants 40 7 1 48

Conclusion: From graph 2, 83.3% of all 48 participants only sleep in, which is about 6 times as many
as those who only wake up early with a percentage of 14.6%. As most of samples are high school
students in YKPS, this may generally show how teenagers in bilingual schools choose to sleep in
more rather than wake up early. In a greater context, this survey may be applied to demonstrate
why it is more often for YKPS students to be late for the first class instead of evening meetings.

Scenario 2. Dog or Cat?

Table 2. Number of students who love dogs, who love cats, and who love both
Dogs Cats Both dogs and cats Total
# of participants 19 21 8 48

Conclusion: According to graph 4 and the calculation, percentages of participants who only love
dogs and cats are similar, respectively 39.6% and 43.8%. This shows that among the sample group
YKPS students, dog lovers and cat lovers quite balance each other. More importantly, referring to
graph 5 the Venn diagram, there is an overlap of 8 between 27 dog lovers and 29 dog lovers, which
account for 16.7% of the total 48 students. This shows that dog lovers and cat lovers are not
inversely related to each other—meaning one can only love either dog or cat—but they can coexist.
