KUNDIMAN COMMUNICATION COMPANY: Mr. Lonely

Introduction

Engr. Lorenzo de Guzman is an electronics engineer is one of the staff of

KUNDIMAN COMMUNICATION CORPORATION (KCC), which is a local company that

compromises of 2000 workers. Now, Engr. de Guzman was being tasked by the Vice

President of Operations of the company to be the next head in the new

telecommunication facility in Antipolo, Rizal and was tasked to make it fully operational

in the span of 3 months. This situation is detrimental for Engr. De Guzman’s career for

he knows that his performance in this new task would determine his upcoming

promotion. However, Engr. De Guzman is fully aware of his inability to evaluate the right

staffs and workers and was actually planning to take some of his friends that has

already skills and experience with him so that the facility can be fully operational within

3 months. In connection, this case study will provide possible solutions to the existing

dilemma to prevent the disability to operate within the given time frame instructed by the

Vice President on Operations which can lead to a failing company and a high possibility

that Engr. De Guzman can loose his job.

Recommendation

In accordance to the dilemma Engr. de Guzman is facing, he should properly

select that staffs he will need for the new facility and the most efficient thing to do in

order to achieve the goal In such short time frame was to make use of the employees

that have enough knowledge and experience from the day to day operations of the
company. Knowing that the company has 2000 employees, it wouldn’t affect much if a

bunch of workers are transferred to the new telecommunication facility. In that way

Engr. de Guzman will now have a high chance in succeeding in the execution of full

facility operation within 3 months. Next, he should request for the transfer of his friend in

the company which has enough skills and experience in the company’s operation and in

their absence he should recommend to promote the deserving underutilized employees

to take over in their position. Then , in the vision of long term operations, Engr. de

Guzman should try to hand over the employee selection to the hiring firms and start

advertising about the available jobs on websites, radios and other advertising platforms.

He might as well consider introducing the facility and open jobs for the graduating

students in universities with courses that are highly needed by the firm. And provided

with his experience in this field he can personally facilitate the trainings that should be

done on the new employees.

Rationale

Selecting the proper staffs is one of the most crucial thing in establishing a

successful company, with the selection of the employees in the mother company can

surely lessen the burden in training the employees since they have already the

experience, knowledge and skills and are already familiar with the daily operation of the

company. Selecting his skilled friends can prove to be advantageous not just in the

amount of money that could be saved from trainings for the upcoming new employees

but it can also ensure that the mew facility can function well since there is trust between

the staffs managing it thus ensuring the success of the facility’s successful operation

with in 3 months. Finally, advertising the opening positions and jobs in universities can
be beneficial in terms of the potential in hiring fresh individuals with developing skills

and talents by which if proper training is given, they can be the future of attaining a

successful company in the years that will come. Moreover, fulfilling the

recommendations stated above can surely ensure the success of the task given but can

also prepare the facility in the future.
