 STUDY OF HALF WAVE RECTIFIER

Procedure
 Connect all of the components as Shown in the circuit diagram.
 Use voltage and current makers to find voltage at different points in the circuit.
 During positive cycle diode is forward bias and conducts.
 During negative cycle diode is reversed biased and output is zero.
 Calculate ripple factor for different loads.

 Each source is 120 degree out of phase with each other.
 Ripples of output voltage increases as compared to single phase rectifiers.
 Notice the ripple factor by changing the values of capacitor.

Procedure
DC Sweep Analysis

 Connect all of the components as Shown in the circuit diagram.


 Use voltage or level makers to find voltage at different points in the circuit.
 Use DC sweep analysis from simulation settings.
 Set the V1 start value -10 and end value +10 with increment of 1 volt.
 Output shows voltage across D1 as source voltage changes from -10 to +10 volts.

AC Sweep Analysis

 Connect all of the components as Shown in the circuit diagram.


 Make C1 as variable and give it name cv.
 Add param/special from orcad library.
 Use voltage or level makers to find voltage at different points in the circuit.
 Use Transient analysis , and Parametric Sweep from simulation settings.
 Select global parameters , give parameter name cv in simulation settings.
 Set start value 100uF and end value 600uF with increment of 100uF.
 Output shows the voltage across C1 , from 100uF to 800uF.
 Use the same procedure, make R1 variable , and find voltage across R1.
