Wash in schools focuses on the standards for the promotion of a
clean and safe school environment and correct hygiene and sanitation
practices among learners: It reduces morbidity and mortality among
school children that stem from poor hygiene and sanitation facilities,
Promotes positive behavior change among the young, Improves their
health, quality of life, and prospects for a productive future, Promotes
gender equality and affirms children’s right to health and education.
Lomocloc Elementary School provided regular supply of safe
drinking water in school, regular supply of clean water for hand
washing, menstrual hygiene management, toilet flushing, and other

1. Each classroom as well as in strategic places (canteen, school park, covered court,
or labeled trash bins for biodegradable, non-
biodegradable, and recyclables.

2. Biodegradable which is composed mostly of papers, fruits peelings and food scraps
( or other materials that can decompose naturally ) shall be disposed in the designated
compost pits for composting purposes. Dried leaves are also to be disposed in this
area. This should be done daily to avoid infestation of insects.
3. Recyclables such as cans and plastic containers shall be collected weekly or as needed
to kept on the school MRF ( Materials Recovery Facility for recycling purposes or to
be sold on recycling plants.
5. Proper waste disposal posters should be seen around the school premises to serve as
an IEC materials.
6. Yearly conduct of school wide orientation about the school policy should be done at
the beginning of school year as a formal orientation.
