Literacy Campaign

I. Introduction

A. Rationale or Justification

The aim of this outreach program is to provide possible source information to the target community in
order to lessen the effects of child trafficking and labor. One of the obvious problems of the community is
their lack of knowledge about the possible long-term effects of these practices to the children, and in
effect to the progress, of the community. This program also aims to provide basic reading, writing, and
numeracy skills training for the residents of Barangay Tandang Sora, Governor Generoso, Davao
Oriental.

C. Problems, needs and resources

Needs

The target barangay is in need of a seminar to provide reading and writing skills.

Resources

The barangay has a sufficient Elementary School where classrooms are wide enough
to accommodate several students who will be attending the seminar. Involved in the activities are the
students of the Education Program.

D. Target audience and clientele

The target audience of this Extension Project will be the students of Barangay Tandang Sora Elementary
School.

II. Objectives

A. General

To provide basic reading and writing skills to the students of Barangay Tandang Sora Elementary School.

B. Specific

To conduct a sustainable 4-session lecture-workshop on reading and writing skills, focusing on basic and
functional skills in order to develop the students’ abilities.
