Answer all the questions in this section

QUESTION 1 ( 3+3+4)

a) Raja bought a secondhand scooter for Rs 18000 and spent Rs 1600 on its
repair. Then he had to sell it for Rs 17640.Find his loss percent.

b) At what rate percent per annum simple interest will be a sum double
itself in 8years?

c) A rectangular lawn 75m by 60m has two roads each 4m wide running in
the middle of it, one parallel to length and the other parallel to breadth.
Find the cost of gravelling the roads at rate of Rs 14.50 per sq metre

QUESTION 2 (3+3+4)

a) On selling a bed for Rs 10800 , a carpenter loses 10%.For what amount


should he sell it to gain 5%.

b) The perimeter of a rectangle is 36cmand its breadth is 8.4cm. Find the


length and the area of the rectangle?

c) The perimeter of a triangle is 8+13a+7a2 and two of its sides are


2a2+3a+2 and 3a2-4a-1. Find the third side of the triangle.

QUESTION 3 (3+3+4)

a) A rope is 24 m long. How many pieces each of length 1 m can be cut


from it?

b) The height of a parallelogram is one third of its base if the area of the
parallelogram is 192cm2. Find the height and the base.

c) Subtract the sum of 4x2+3xy-6y2and 5x2-3xy-7y2 from the sum of 3x2-


xy+2y2 and 4x2+5xy- 6y2 .

QUESTION 4 (3+3+4)

a) Simplify 6a2+3ab+5b2-2ab-b2+2a2+4ab+2b2-a2

b) A sum when reckoned at 6% per annum SI amount to Rs 4130 in 3 years.


Find the sum.

c) A car moves at a constant speed of 56.4km per hour. How much distance
does it cover in 3.5hours.

QUESTION 5 (3+3+4)

a) The measure of an angle is 30°less than its supplement. Find the


measure of the angle.

b) A wire is in the form of a circle of radius 28cm.If it is straightened and


bent into the form of a square. What is the length of the side of square
and also find the area of the square?

c) A sum of money put at 9% per annum simple interest amounts to Rs


10160 in 3 years. What will it amounts to in 2 years at 8% per annum?
