Harry Potter - Books Vs Movies Weebly 1
I
personally think the books are much better than the movies and I think these people are missing
out. At the same time, it is understandable that some people don’t like reading and I think they
can still enjoy the series by just watching the movies. A lot of Harry Potter fans like to Gatekeep
and tell others that you need to read the books to enjoy the series, but I think people who only
watch the movies are allowed to be fans because they genuinely enjoy the story, just in a
different form.
In the movies, I think Severus Snape is a much better person. In the books, he goes out of his
way to bully children because his childhood crush didn’t like him back, and he called his
childhood crush various slurs and insults so I don’t blame her. He bullies Neville for no good
reason and he bullies Harry because he looks like his father. That’s not Harry’s fault. Snape
should not be doing any of this and it is immature of him.
Draco Malfoy’s character is also a bit different but he’s still generally the same. People like to
defend Draco and I don’t understand why. He’s a bully and he doesn’t help Harry very much. I
do agree that a lot of the things he does is because of his family issues and his trauma, but I still
think people defend him too much.
Charlie and Bill Weasley are some of the coolest characters in the series and the movies didn’t
even include them. They had maybe a few lines and appeared on screen very few times.
Certain characters’ deaths are extremely important and sad in the books. The movies make
these deaths way less important and wayy less sad. One of the deaths is hard to even notice
and you have to be paying really close attention to see it happen. I think this takes away from
the story.
There are really important parts of the story, like Remus Lupin’s kid and how he asked Harry to
be the Godfather. The movies could have included that, or talked more about tonks, or showed
how sad Harry was about Sirius’ death, but no. They decided not to include that. Instead, they
include unnecessary scenes, like Harry and Hermione dancing in à tent for three minutes. They
also ruined Ron’s character in my opinion. Ron became extremely jealous and rude in the later
movies. They took away all his good moments in the books and gave them to Hermione, which I
think is really unfair.
In conclusion, I think people who only watch the movies can still be fans of Harry Potter, but I
would recommend reading the books because they would never know why I dislike Severus
Snape so much, more about Draco Malfoy’s character, they would never know about Bill or
Charlie weaseley, they wouldn’t know the amazing stories of my favorite characters and they
would think that Ron is an awful character. The books have a lot of extra information that is
really important to the story. I like the books a lot more, but I also don’t hate the movies. They
have good moments too.
