Please read the following instructions carefully before solving & submitting assignment:

o The assignment is copied (from other student or ditto copy from handouts or internet).

Covering Lectures: Assignment No. 2 Covers Lectures 8-15.

Objective

The objective of this assignment is:

o To understand the basic concepts of Information System its different types.

Question No.1

Suppose there is an online shopping store which is providing online delivery of products to
customers at their doorsteps.
Transaction Processing System (TPS), Management Information System (MIS) and Decision
Support System (DSS) are different components/subsystems of Computer Based Information
System (CBIS). Keeping in mind given scenario, consider the following situations and identify
whether they are part of TPS, MIS or DSS.

Customer pays bill through credit/debit card.
Store wants to see the list of the products which sale is
declined in current month.
Manager checks daily sales report of store.
On Pakistan Day, store plans to offers 23% discount to
customers whose order value is more than Rs. 10,000.
Store pays salary to its employees on 1st of each month.
The store wants to see the list of all customers who are
their regular customers for the last 6 months.
The store plans to start winter sale in January.

There are three broad categories of problems: structured, semi-structured and un-structured.
Consider the scenario of online shopping store given in Question No. 1, and identify two
structured and two unstructured problems in this domain.
