AEI Product - ByOD - Link v07

The document describes BYOD.link, a solution that allows hotel guests to use their personal mobile devices to access hotel services and make calls through an in-room phone system. Guests download the BYOD.link app and scan a QR code at check-in. Their device then connects to the in-room BYOD station over WiFi. This provides a hygienic, mobile way for guests to reach both personal contacts and hotel services from anywhere in the hotel using their own device. The system is compatible with both IP and analog in-room phones and can integrate with existing phone systems or be used for new properties.

Q&A

• Q1 : How is the security strength if guestroom phones integrated with BYOD.link?

A : Our BYOD.link app and BYOD station are connected to the hotel guest network. All connections are isolated
from central communication system.

• Q2 : Are IP and analog phones able to be integrated with BYOD.link?

A : Guests can connect their smart phones to either IP or Analog phones via BYOD.link in the guestroom.

• Q3 : Does the hotel need to replace existing phones when deploying BYOD.link?

A : Our BYOD.link solution is flexible. It can be applied to just selected premium guestrooms. Previously Installed
phones are still able to communicate with BYOD.link enable rooms.

• Q4 : How many lines does BYOD.link provide for communication?

A : Currently, BYOD.link is only designed to be integrated with single line IP or Analog phones.
Q&A

• Q5 : How to activate BYOD.link app when guest check in?

BYOD.link BYOD.link Portal
A : AEI will provide two BYOD.link apps :
- BYOD.link app for hotel guests (iOS / Android)
- BYOD.link Portal app for tablets at hotel front desk. (iOS)
An iOS smart phone/tablet is needed at front desk. Multiple phones/tablets are needed if there are several
receptionists at Front desk. Receptionists acquire guest information to generate a QR code in BYOD.link Portal app.
Guest installs the BYOD.link app and scans the QR code to download and activate the BYOD.link app configuration.
The guest’s smart phones would then be connected to BYOD.link.

• Q6 : How many smart phones can be connected?

A : Up to four smart phones can connect to BYOD station. Only one phone can make/receive a call at one time.

• Q7 : Can guests connect to BYOD.link in hotel public areas?

A : It depends on the hotel network configuration. Guest’s smart phones would be able to connect to BYOD.link as
long as the public Wi-Fi and guestroom Wi-Fi are in the same network segment.
Q&A

• Q8 : Can guests connect to BYOD.link via 4G/5G telecom network?

A : It is not possible to connect to BYOD.link via 4G/5G networks. Only the hotel Wi-Fi network would support
connection to BYOD.link.

• Q9 : How to call for hotel services with guest personal mobile device?

A : All hotel services can be found in the BYOD.link app. Hotels can design and apply their user interface for guests.
Guests can access hotel services via ‘Guest Service’ in the BYOD.link app as long as their smart phones are
connected to BYOD station.

• Q10 : Can hotel services be changed in the app?

A : Hotels can design and apply their own user interface in the BYOD.link app for guests. The service items can be listed
according to the hotel preference.
Q&A

• Q11 : How will the BYOD.link guest app disconnect from the room when checkout time is reached?

A : There are 3 approaches to disconnect the BYOD.link app from the room.
- Receptionists can use the BYOD.link Portal app to log guests out of the BYOD.link app.
- The PMS system will stop guestroom phone communications so that the BYOD.link can no longer access hotel
services.
- A new QR code will be generated when a new guest checks in. The new configuration will overwrite the previous
setting and the previously configured BYOD.link app will no longer be able to connect to BYOD.link.

• Q12 : What languages are supported in BYOD.link app?

A : The BYOD.link app automatically uses the language that your smart phone is set to, as long as the language is
supported in the app.
