Workshop Report MATLAB and LaTex

REPORT OF WORKSHOP ON THE THEME ‘MATLAB and LaTeX Software’s’ AT AKAL

UNIVERSITY, TALWANDI SABO

The Akal University organized a three-day workshop on the theme “MATLAB and LaTeX
Software’s” where esteemed Faculty / Professors from the university were invited to speak on
the theme. The workshop provided exposure to the participants and provided a chance to
enhance their knowledge of the MATLAB and LaTeX Software.

DAY-I (08-04-2021)
The first day of the workshop begins with the inaugural address given by initial introduction of
Workshop by Mr. Rajat Singla and welcome Address by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor (Prof. Gurmail
Singh). In his address, he shared his views with participants that if participants want to develop
themselves and their students then attending such workshop would enhance their Knowledge.
Dr Sukhpreet Kaur welcome the first guest of the workshop Dr. Ramjiwari. Day 1 started with
the resource persons of the day. His topic was introduction off the MATLAB software (What is
MATLAB, MATLAB Components, Workspace, Command History, Command Window,
Command Files, Script File, M-file), Basic operations (Scalars, Vectors, Matrices, Built in
Functions for handling Arrays, Mathematical operations on Array (Addition, Subtraction,
Multiplication, Division). The session was ended with vote of thanks by Sukhpreet Kaur.
DAY-II (09-04-2021)
On the second Day of FDP, resource person was the same. Dr Tripti invites the Dr. Ramjiwari
for his lecture. His topic was plotting 2D- 3D Data Plotting, Function Plotting, Various commands
for Plotting, Formatting of Plots in Matlab. After tea break, he again started his discussion with a
recap of the previous day session. He continued his talk about the Creating a function file,
Structure of a function file, Input and Output arguments. Conditional statements Loops.

After lunch, Ms. Alka Munjal invites Dr. Amandeep Kaur for the tutorial session of the MATAB.
She helps the participants and presented many MATLAB programs. Again it was a good
interactive session. Then Ms. Alka Munjal invites second speaker of the workshop Dr. Sandeep
Singh. His topic is the basic introduction of the LaTex (why Latex, Basic Document creation,
Class files, Geometry of Document,) Sections Subsections, Title creation, Font Styles, Sizes
and Colors, Spacing, enumerate commands, Different Types of Alignment, Mathematical
environment, how to insert equations, Tables, Matrices, Images.). Vote of thanks was given to
resource person of the day by Ms. Alka Munjal.
DAY-III (10-04-2021)
The last day of the workshop started with a tutorial session on Latex by Ms. Alka Munjal.
After tea break Dr. Sandeep Singh invites next resource person Dr. Parshant Singh Rana. His
topic for the day was Page, Report, Article, Thesis writing. Footer, Header, References, Cross
References management in Latex file.
After lunch break, Ms. Baljinder Kaur invites Dr. Tripti for the next tutorial.

In this next session, Ms. Baljinder Kaur invites Dr. Suraj Goyal. He talked about Beamer and us
to understand the uses of the Latex software.
After that vote of thanks was given by Dr Sukhjeet Singh then everybody rose for the
applauding. Overall the 3-day workshop programme was successful and very knowledgeable &
helpful.
