Environmental, Social, Research (ESG)
Research
ESG stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance. Investors area unit more and
more applying these non-financial factors as a part of their analysis method to spot
material risks and growth opportunities. ESG metrics don't seem to be normally a part of
obligatory monetary news, although corporation’s area unit more and more creating

various establishments, like the Sustainable Accounting Standards Board (SASB), the
Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), and CDP area unit operating to create standards and
outline materiality to facilitate incorporation of those factors into the investment
method.
ESG is growing in significance amongst both institutional and retail investors. The
practice of ESG investing began in the 1960s as socially responsible investing, with
investors excluding stocks or entire industries from their portfolios based on business
activities such as tobacco production or involvement in the South African apartheid
regime.
ESG investments accelerated in 2013 and reports indicate that between 2014–16,
corporations that performed well on ESG parameters accomplished higher monetary
results further. ESG compliance goes to become progressively} necessary because the
effects of the climate crisis ar felt and accepted more.
Today, ethical considerations and alignment with values remain common motivations of
many ESG investors but the field is rapidly growing and evolving, as many investors look
to incorporate ESG factors into the investment process alongside traditional financial
analysis.
In recent years, institutional investor adoption of ESG and the subsequent growth in ESG
assets under management has accelerated. While much has contributed to this growth,
we focus on three primary drivers of ESG investment
