Introduction of My Background

I am Sayantan Ghosh, from India. I was born in a city called Suri in West Bengal, India as the
first child of my family. My father was in service and retired at present. After completion of
my Higher secondary education in 2015, I have entered New Horizon College of Engineering
to complete my bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering and majored in
programming and development. This four years of long study and impressive education
environment in the engineering college laid a strong foundation in computer science. I was
an active student among other students during my Bachelor’s studies, very often involved in
many curricular and co-curricular activities such as participation as volunteer, participated in
seminars of Machine Learning etc. I have graduated from New Horizon college of engineering
in the Year 2020. I am currently planning to complete my Master’s in computer science and
engineering. After I complete my Master’s from china, I am planning to search for a job in
china if possible or return to India and search for a job as a professional computer engineer
in India.

Academic Background

I have done my undergraduate degree in computer science and engineering from New
Horizon College of Engineering, India, in January 2020, with a CGPA of 7.58 out of 10. I was
an active student among other students during my Bachelor’s studies, very often involved in
many curricular and co-curricular activities. I want to mention here that English was taught
to me as a subject up to Class 10th for ten years after that from class 11 to 12 and throughout
my bachelors’ study, all subjects were in English. The language of instruction was English at
my Home University. I learned about many things like compiler design, Algorithm Design, and
Analysis, Software Engineering, Operating systems, Engineering Mathematics, Programming
like C, C++, Java, Python, Android, HTML, CSS. JavaScript, Basics of Machine Learning, etc.

I did my final-year thesis project on Web Computer Vision. In this project, I learned and
researched about computer vision and its Implementations. While working on this project I
found strong motivation in myself towards graduate study and research in the area of
Artificial Intelligence and machine learning. At present, I have done an internship at fitlark
where I have learned how websites work and how to design websites using HTML, CSS, and
JavaScript. I would like to get the next level of a job that is not common in Indian companies.
I was able to secure a job after I have done my internship as an IT Professional where I was
assigned a job as a system maintainer. However, I could not continue the job after 6 months
due to some restrictions. I started teaching students (up to secondary level) at my place, and
I am currently still teaching. After completing a bachelor's degree in computer science, I was
getting the job of customer service representative, airport ground force candidate, back-
office job and I got disappointed. I have never wanted to do these kinds of jobs after my
bachelor's.

So, I would like to improve my academic skills by pursuing a Master's degree in Computer
Science Engineering in China on a Chinese Government Scholarship and if possible, I would
love to work in China after the master's. Also, I am very interested in the Chinese language
and studied a little during my bachelor's degree on my own. I am excited to learn the Chinese
language in advance. I hope to make a commitment to science and help mankind. My passion
is to serve society by finding awareness and making a contribution to science through
research. I want to mention here that even though I have not contacted the professor but I
am very eager to prepare for my research plan. Hence, I am directly applying to university.

Reason to study in china – Why China?

Now the question is “Why China?” I've seen many books and read a lot about China and its
history, and I'm always astonished by it. Also, I've seen a lot of Chinese dramas, and I've found
that the Chinese film industry makes realistic films and dramas that leave a message on a
variety of educational topics for students and learning messages for others. I am quite

impressed with how Chinese people have shown that they are hardworking, committed to
their tasks, and put forward sincere efforts in their work. In this manner, the Chinese people
have shaped their nation in such a way that it would serve as a model for other countries.
I've been curious about Chinese technologies and the Chinese economy, so I did some
research and discovered that the Chinese economy is one of the fastest-growing in the world,
and technological advancements are astounding. I've read about a lot of hardware and
software projects, and I'm surprised at how quickly Chinese technology is evolving. I've also
looked at Chinese universities and am impressed with how they educate their students. I'm
learning a lot from Chinese university courses on YouTube, Coursera, and other educational
websites. Colleges in China are world-class educational establishments with stellar
reputations. This motivates students and professionals to strive for better career
opportunities. After contemplating all of this, my willingness to study in China has
strengthened my confidence, and I am fully pleased with the decision I made. The justification
for not pursuing a master's degree in India is that higher education in India is of low quality,
and most universities lack sufficient facilities for conducting research. China, on the other
hand, is a developing nation with various top-ranked engineering universities. Another
appealing aspect of this situation is the Chinese Government Scholarship for people of third-
world countries such as India who cannot afford China's costly schooling. As I previously said,
the other factors are my desire to learn more and support society by doing studies in the
fields of science and engineering. Furthermore, China's varied cultural standards and ideals,
as well as the way they treat their residents, make me consider China to be my second home.
Besides, I have spoken with my family, and they completely support my decision to pursue
my Master's studies in China. All of these factors combine to make China a perfect location
for me to obtain my master's degree. So, with high expectations, I conclude that this
application will be given careful consideration, and I will gladly supply whatever additional
details you will need. I eagerly await your response.

My Personality

To be honest, I am a socially conscious person with polite nature. I maintain a keen awareness
of life's realities, but I handle people with an optimistic mindset and outlook, and I still prove
to be supportive with sincere efforts and genuine dedication. Aside from that, it's always a
pleasure to meet and greet people from various backgrounds and cultures. I can accept any
challenge, and I give my best to solve the challenge. My strength is my knowledge and
teamwork because I believe that any challenge can be solved if good teamwork is there. I
help people who are in need because I believe that helping people can bring help when we
are in need. I am very punctual, and I take responsibility for the task I have been assigned and
always try to complete the task before the deadline. Furthermore, I never differentiate
people based on religion, race, etc. The most attractive aspect of myself is that I am still
willing to consider positive changes in myself. Also, I believe that a person's personality is
influenced by his or her surroundings and the people around him or her.

Study plan in China

I'd like to apply for a Master's Degree in Computer Science Engineering in China on Chinese
Government Scholarship - Chinese University Program because my previous internship and
final year project introduced me to the broad variety of practical applications in Computer
Science Engineering, which triggered my curiosity and ignited my interest to learn more about
my chosen area. I have an enormous interest in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
As I pursue my Master's course work, I will decide which particular topic to choose for
research or thesis. My goal is to work in an area similar to computer science engineering on
a global scale. As a result, I'd like to acquire both theoretical and practical experience in
starting and handling the most ambitious projects. During my studies, I will strive to come up
with the best of everything; to assist professors and university colleagues in carrying out
experiments and discovering enormous thrilling industrial complexities in the field of
Computer Science. After finishing my master's degree, I expect to be able to contribute to

optimizing my country's scientific technologies in Computer Science fields to support its
economy and raise the living standards of my fellow citizens. I believe that this Master's
Degree would give me the ability to learn about computer hardware and software while
affiliating me with industries that are living models of computer science engineering. I want
to gain more experience coping with circumstances, personalities, processes, and
expectations, which will be extremely beneficial in my future career.

Why do I choose to study in the Southeast University?

The Southeast University is one of China's top University, with one of the best departments
of Computer Science Engineering in the world. The professor's work like publications
triggered my interest the most, as they provided me with several ideas for computer science
field since I have major in computer science and also, I have an experience with coding. The
available research fields are amazing. I came across an impressive profile of many professors
who have excellent research works. It has always been a goal of mine to study at such a
prestigious institution, and obtaining a Master's degree at this university is my best choice.
This university was selected for its renowned academics, peaceful atmosphere, and
incredible scenery.
