Grade: level 1 Date: 15-06-2021

Topic: Greetings, Introductions, Numbers, and Addresses

Lesson Focus and Goals:


- Explore the topic of greetings and introduction
- Explore numbers , addresses
- Develop students ‘listening, speaking, and writing skills.
- Use Grammar – Possessives , Pronouns , present simple of be

Materials Needed:

Student Book / Worksheets for exercises

Index cards

Learning Objectives: After this lesson students will be able to:

- Greet in different ways - Introduce people and say where they are from.

- Give answer to appropriate question - To talk and use numbers

- Identify and use pronouns/possessives in speech and writing

- Interact in daily situations ( In Bus , Street , …Etc. ) – Start conversation


Structure / Activity:

- A - Warm up

Ask students what they say when they see someone they know. Elicit “Hello” and ask students what
other greetings they know.

On the board :

1. Hello                           Goodbye                     Hi                    Good morning

2. Have the students greet as many of their classmates as possible. Encourage them to use as many
different greetings as possible

- B- Part 1

- 1. on the board:
- Good morning Good Afternoon
- What is your name? My name is …………… Nice to meet you.
- How are you?                                      Where are you from?
- I’m fine, thanks!                                 I’m from________________.
- 2. Have a pair work and each pair speak in front of the class and ask each other what their name is,
how they are and where they are from.
- 3.Divide the class into three groups and take it in turn to introduce each other

- 4.To do Exercises in the student book together or in groups.

- C- Part 2– Numbers

- 1.  Motivate the students, saying, "Today, we will be learning about numbers. Raise your hand if you
know a number."
- 2. on the board: Listen and repeat

- Numbers from 1-9 - Numbers from 10-20

- 3. Activity - Match number with words

- 4. Activity – Play a numbers game and try some math.

- 5.To do exercises in the student book together or in groups.

- 4- Same activities for - Numbers from 10-20


- 5. The students will practise numbers by counting in a circle to reach as high a number as possible
without making a mistake.

D- Part 3 – Addresses

- 1. on the board:

- Adding the example addresses 

- Name ……………..

- Surname ……….

- Street………………

- Town………………

- Country…………..

- 2. Exercises – Complete the table with a partner, listen and check, match.

- 3. Select random students to fill the gaps of the address on the board and repeat this activity.

- 4. Role play – Giving a fictional address – Making group of pairs

The students have to extract the fictional addresses from their partner in this pair-work speaking activity.
Student 1: What's your ____?
Student 2: It's _____?
Teacher: What's your town?
Student: It's Edinburgh.
Teacher: Can you repeat that please?
Student: It's Edinburgh.
Teacher: Can you spell that?
Student: Yes, E-D...
Next, dividing the group into pairs and have them take turns extracting the address from a partner. Make
the students aware that their primary aim is to write down their partner's address accurately.
When finished, they should compare what they've written with what they recorded.

E- Part 4– Grammar (Possessives , Pronouns )

- 1.on board :

- Pronouns – I / You /He /She/We/They


- Possessives- My/Your/His/Her/Our/Their

- 2. Explain to students that to possess something means to have or own it.

- 3. Using Index card - Writing each word on an index card and distribute to students accordingly. For
example, the 'he' card should go to one male student, the 'she' card to one female, the 'we' card to a group,
and so on
- Now to give each group an object, such as a pencil, and say 'He has the pencil. It is his.'
- To write the possessive pronoun next to the coordinating basic pronoun, such as 'he/his.'
- Finish the list and create index cards for the possessive pronouns.

- A - Find the match

- To give each student a prepared index card .


- To instruct students to find the student who has the match to their card. For example, 'he' should match
with 'his.
- Once partners are together, have partners work together to create two sentences that use the pronouns
correctly. Write and share.

- 3. Instruct 2 students to repeat the conversation each one with his role.

- 5. In pairs, choose a topic and students try to make a conversation.

- 6. To do exercises in the student book together or in groups.
