INDEPENDENCE DAY ASSEMBLY

Anchor-1 (Sameeha)“A new star rises, the star of freedom in the east, a new
hope comes into being, a vision long cherished materializes. May the star
never set and that hope never betrayed!”
It was with these words spoken by none other than Jawaharlal Nehru in his
speech Tryst with Destiny, on August 15 1947 that India broke free from the
shackles of the British and embarked on its journey of independence. And to honor
this magnificent day, a special assembly is held each year in Fr. Agnel School.

Anchor-2:A very warm good morning Revd. Fr. Carvalho, respected Principal Sr.
Geeta ,Coordinator Ma’am Rashmi, passionate teachers and my dear friends. It is
an absolute honor to welcome you all to celebrate this great national event.

ANCHOR1: We feel honoured to have with us Our Director Rev.Fr.Carvalho who

is the sculptor of human character and a seasoned scholar and our respected
Principal sister Geeta who is the navigator of this flagship of knowledge.

Independence Day is an auspicious occasion for all of us. India’s Independence

Day is the most important day to all the Indian citizens and has been mentioned
forever in the history. It is the day when we got freedom from the British rule after
many years of hard struggle by the great freedom fighters of India. We celebrate
Independence day every year on 15th of August to remember the first day of
freedom of India as well as to remember all the great leaders who have sacrificed
their lives in attaining freedom for India.

Anchor-2 : Before we commence this programme, I request LAVANYA to

lead us into prayer followed by the prayer hymn.

PRAYER FOR OUR COUNTRY

Almighty God,
bless our nation
and make it true
to the ideas of freedom and justice
and brotherhood for all who make it great.
Guard us from war,
from fire and wind,
from compromise, fear, confusion.

Be close to the leaders of our nation;

give them vision and courage,
as they ponder decisions affecting peace
and the future of the world.

Make me more deeply aware of my heritage;

realizing not only my rights
but also my duties
and responsibilities as a citizen.

Make this great land

and all its people
know clearly Your will,
that they may fulfil
the destiny ordained for us
in the salvation of the nations,
and the restoring of all things in Christ. AMEN

May all human beings live in harmony with nature and other forms of life. May the
truth prevail. May the darkness of ignorance be swept away by the dawn of self-
realisation.
Prayer hymn video

Anchor 1 Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality. Our Director
who is indispensable to this institute, has never left a stone unturned in extending
his services to our school. May I now request Rev Fr. Carvalho to say a few words
on this special occasion and guide us to the right path to follow in future.

Thank you Father for inspiring us to dream more, learn more and do more. You are
truly a great example of leadership.

POEM

Anchor 2- Poetry defines our emotions in the best possible manner. And when it
comes to our motherland, nothing more beautiful can be said to describe her than
what a poetry can. ___________will recite that will make our heart swell with
pride.

DANCE

Anchor 1- That was such an enthralling performance. It has literally driven each
one of us into a patriotic zone.

India’s patriotic songs & dances tell the story of the whole nation and it’s struggle
in the past and present. Politically & socially charged dances express the intense
passion for people’s non-tolerance to social injustice and human rights abuse.
These are very rhythmic, passionate, pulsating dances tell the tale of the people of
India. As rightly said by Emma Goldman “If I can’t dance I was no part in your
revolution”. Get ready to ignite the patriotic fervor with the energetic dance
performance by these little ones.
FREEDOM FIGHTER VIDEO

Anchor 2-The music, the dance, and the colors it all feels like I’m in heaven.
Lovely performance children.

As India marches into its 75th year of Independence, the people who fought tooth
and nail for the freedom, our tiny tots are here to present an act showcasing the
heroes who fought for our country.

Anchor –3(Shivangi)

What an invigorating performance by our blooming buds. Thanks for paying a rich
tribute to the martyrs by representing their zeal and patriotism.

GROUP SONG

There are many compositions that have paid a tribute to India, and one cannot
choose favourites. Every patriotic song evokes national pride amongst all of us.
And to inflate this spirit we have choir to captivate us with a melodious song

Anchor 4 (Advay/Yuvraj)- This song really motivates our inner spirit about
being true Indians, and making us remember that we all are one.

DANCE

Anchor 3- Saluting the Nation and its freedom fighters on the eve of its 75th
Independence Day, our students are here to showcase a colourful spectacle of
India’s vision through their performance. Please welcome them a round of
applause.
MIME

Anchor 4-What a poetry of footsteps, our performers have literally stolen

away the spectator’s heart.

Independence day is the most auspicious day for the people of India because India
became independent after lots of hardships and sacrifices of the brave Indian freedom
fighters. The most remarkable movement in history of India was The Quit India
Movement launched by Mahatma Gandhi that turned in to a revolution and struck the
final nail in the fight for Independence. This revolution saw thousands of people
coming together, even being beaten, suppressed and imprisoned together. The leaders
and the mass followers, all were put into jails. But they all stayed together. What we
need to is know the value of being together and standing together for the right cause.
So now we have Disha Verma depicting ‘The strength of being together is enough to
stand against the toughest situations.’through a mime.

Anchor-3 : That was indeed a mesmerizing performance. You have made us

speechless with that stupendous act.

to propose a vote of thanks on this year’s independence day celebration
I would like to thank all teachers ,parents and staff members. You are the key to
success of this event. Thank you Sr. Geeta for guiding us at every step.
Without you, this event would not have been so successful. Let us have a big round
of applaud for all.

Anchor 4-We have reached the end of the program. Let us conclude the program
with yet another Patriotic song Vande Mataram

."Vande Mataram" is a poem from "Anandamath", a novel written by Bankim

Chandra Chattopadhyay and published in 1882. Written in Bengali and Sanskrit,
the first two verses of this poem were accorded the status of India's national song
(distinct from national anthem) in 1950. The tune is set to Desh raga.

It reads:

I show gratitude to thee, Mother,

Richly-watered, richly-fruited,
cool with the winds of the south,
Dark with the crops of the harvests,
The Mother!
Her nights rejoicing in the glory of the moonlight,
her lands clothed beautifully with her trees in flowering bloom,
sweet of laughter, sweet of speech,
The Mother, giver of boons, giver of bliss.
Let us now listen to the song

Both Anchor’s (Sameeha & Aradhya) : I know you all enjoyed the program but
here is the time we say we have come to the end of the function .So soak in the
spirit of India and let this feeling envelope your soul. It’s not just about a day when
you remember your home soil, it’s the spirit and love that you take along wherever
you go. This Independence Day, promise yourself to give a bit of ‘you’ to this
country which has given you your name, recognition, your identity.

We wish you a very Happy Independence Day!
