Research Proposal

 A research proposal is an overall plan, scheme, structure and strategy


designed to obtain answers to the research questions or problems that
constitute your research project.
 Purpose of the proposal is to outline in as much detail as possible:

 why you are conducting the research (Objectives)

 how you will undertake the research (Methodology)

 why the method you have chosen is valid (Appropriate method)


 what the outcomes of the research will be (proposed result)

 Literature review (2-4 pages)
 Research methodology (Design issues, at least 1 page)
 Timetable for completion
 Resource requirements (Budget)

The Project Report

 Research report usually have five chapters with well-


established sections in each chapter.
 Readers of the report will be looking for these chapters
and sections so you should not deviate from the
standard format unless you are specifically requested
to do so by the research supervisor.

 A reference list is a subset of bibliography ,which includes details of all


the citations used in the literature survey and elsewhere in the report
in the alphabetical order of the last names of the authors.
 At least three modes of referencing are followed in business research.
These are American psychological association (APA,2001), the
Chicago Manual of style (1993), and the turabian style (1996).
 Each of these manuals specifies, with examples, how books, journals,
newspapers, dissertations and other materials are to be referenced in
manuscripts.
 We will highlight APA style format which is mostly used in management
area.
