Spill Cleanup Procedure Date: November 25 2019

Objective: To prevent incidents from occurring through


effective spill response.

General Rules
The following two (2) rules apply to large and small spill
cleanup.
Small Spills
As a general rule small spillage may be cleaned using the absorbent materials supplied
such paper towels.
Large Spills
The source of a large spill must be shut off contained as a first measure before clean up.

Supplies & Equipment Needed:


 Caution, Safety & Wet Floor Signs
 Floor Cleaning Solutions/Degreasers
 Mop Bucket & Wringer Combos (Large Spills)
 Wet Mops (Large Spills)
 Disinfecting Wipes

Small Water & Drink Spills


1) Inform persons in the vicinity that there is a spill and
its location;
2) Use glove
3) Soak and wipe up spills immediately using paper towels
4) Ensure that the surface has properly cleaned dried
5) Discard used paper towels in general waste disposal.

Greasy/Oily Substances
1) Use safety gloves
2) Place Wet Floor Signage at a safe working distance
3) Clean with a detergent and wipe dry with paper towels
