Pairs of Angles: Parent/Guardian'S Name and Signature

This document contains information about different types of angle pairs: 1) It defines supplementary, complementary, congruent, vertical, adjacent, and linear pairs of angles. 2) It provides examples of each type of angle pair with illustrations and the corresponding angle measures. 3) There are also two examples problems that ask the reader to identify different angle pairs and determine unknown angle measures based on the information provided about angle pair properties.

PAIRS OF ANGLES

Pair of Angles Definition Illustration Name

Supplementary angles two angles whose
measures have a
sum of 180°.
∠BEN and ∠TEN

m ∠BEN = 120
m ∠TEN = 60

m ∠BEN + m ∠TEN = 180

120º + 60º = 180º

115º
∠RQP and ∠MNO
65º

m ∠RQP = 115
m ∠MNO = 65

m ∠RQP + m ∠MNO = 180

115º + 65º = 180º

Complementary Two angles whose

Angles measures have a ∠MAN and ∠NAT
sum of 90º

m ∠MAN = 30
m ∠NAT = 60

m ∠MAN + m ∠NAT = 90
30º + 60º = 90º

∠SUN and ∠MON

m ∠SUN = 40
m ∠MON = 50

m ∠SUN + m ∠MON = 90
40º + 50º = 90º
Congruent Angles Two angles whose
measures are equal.

∠SEM and ∠MET

m ∠SEM = 45
1
m ∠MET = 45

∠BOX and ∠XET

m ∠BOX = 100
m ∠XET = 100

Vertical Angles Two opposite angles

formed by two
intersecting lines. ∠BAD and ∠CAS
∠BAC and ∠DAS
Vertical angles are
congruent.
m ∠BAD and m ∠CAS are
congruent

m ∠BAC and m ∠DAS are

congruent

Adjacent Angles two angles which

have a common ∠BAC and ∠CAS
vertex and a Common side: CA
common side but Common Vertex: A
have no common
interior points
∠CAS and ∠SAD
Common side: SA
Common Vertex: A

∠BAD and ∠SAD

Common side: AD
Common Vertex: A

∠BAD and ∠BAC

Common side: BA
Common Vertex: A
Linear Pair is a pair of adjacent
angles whose
uncommon sides ∠BEN and ∠TEN
are opposite rays. If Common Vertex: E
two angles form a
linear pair, then
they are Common Side: EN
supplementary.
Opposite rays: ES and ET

Example 1:

Identify the pairs of angles asked in every item based on the

figure.

1. Complementary angles: ∠AFE and ∠EFD

m∠AFE = 65 and m∠EFD= 25, 65º + 25º = 90º

2. Supplementary angles: ∠BFA and ∠AFE, ∠BFA and ∠CFB

m∠BFA = 115 and m∠AFE= 65, 115º + 65º = 180º
m∠BFA = 115 and m∠CFB= 65, 115º + 65º = 180º

3. Vertical angles: ∠BFC and ∠AFE

2
Reason: Ang dalawang angle ay opposite angles (magkatapat yung dalawang angles), may
magkaparehas na measure at nabuo dahil may intersecting lines.

4. Congruent angles: ∠BFC and ∠AFE

Reason: Dahil magkaparehas sila ng measure.
m∠BFC = 65 and m∠AFE= 65

5. Adjacent Angles: ∠BFA and ∠AFE, ∠AFE and ∠EFD, Reason: Ang dalawang angle ay
∠EFD and ∠DFC, ∠DFC and ∠CFB magkatabi at meron silang tinatawag
∠CFB and ∠BFA na common side.

6. Linear Pairs: ∠BFA and ∠AFE, ∠BFA and ∠CFB, ∠DFA and ∠CFD

EXAMPLE 2:

Identify the measure of the following angles:

1. ∠EOD = 90º

At upang malaman ang nawawalang sukat, kailangan i-
subtract sa 90º ang 75º.
90º - 75º = 15 º

3. ∠DOC = 15º

4. ∠BOC = 165º
180º - 15º = 165º
