Activity 4: Lesson 6: Instructional Planning Model

The document discusses instructional planning models for math lessons. It compares the ADIDAS and 5 Es models, noting their similarities - the Activity/Engage-Explore phases, Discussion/Explain phases, and Input-Deepening-Elaborate/Explain phases all correspond. While these models are commonly used, they can receive criticism for not applying to all math topics; however, the document argues they can be used for any lesson as they are meant to supplement daily planning. Even if a different model is used at one's place of employment, the document says adjustment should not be difficult, as most models share similar goals and phases.

ACTIVITY 4
LESSON 6:
INSTRUCTIONAL PLANNING MODEL

ACTIVITY 1
Answer the following questions to verbalize your
understanding of instructional planning models commonly used
in math.
1. Did you notice any similarity between the ADIDAS and
the 5 Es Model? Match the components of the two
models to summarize the similarities that you saw.

 Activity Engage
 Discussion Explore
 Input Explain
 Deepening Elaborate
 Activity Evaluate
 Synthesis

2. Explain the matching you did in #1.

The Activity in ADIDAS is similar to Engage and Explore in
5 Es model because the lesson begins with an activity and aim to
get the interest of the students. The Discussion and Explain are
similar because both practices are letting the students to share what
they learned from the previous activity. On the other hand, the
Input, Deeping and Elaborate are similar because in this part the
students will engage to critical and creative thinking to deepen
their understanding of the concepts that they have just learned.
Lastly, the Activity, Synthesis and Evaluate are similar because in
this part the students will be given a short assessment and evaluate
their learning to give the teacher feedback on what they have
learned.

ACTIVITY 2
Even though ADIDAS and 5 Es are commonly used, they also
receive criticisms such as not being applicable to some topics in math.
The following questions will challenge your reasoning skills regarding
this issue of applicability of instructional planning models.

1. Do you think the ADIDAS or the 5 Es Model is applicable to

planning any lesson in mathematics? Explain you thought.
I think yes, because since both of them are applicable in any
curriculum guide it means that it is applicable and effective in
teaching any topic for the students. It’s designed to supplement the
day-to-day planning, teaching, evaluation activities of teachers at
all educational level. Meaning to say we can use ADIDAS or the 5
Es model in instructional plan in any lesson in mathematics to be
more effective and organized in teaching to students.

2. What if in the school where you will be employed, a different

instructional planning model is used. Do you think you will
have a hard time adjusting? Explain.
I don’t think that I will be hard time in adjusting because
most of the instructional planning model are similar to each other
even they are different in executing but the goals are alike. Same in
the ADIDAS and 5 Es model, most of their phases and practices
are similar.
