COT 1. Activity 3.find The Boundary On The Map - Answer Key

1) Students are asked to identify the major tectonic plates and the type of boundaries between them (convergent, divergent, transform fault) using a map showing plate boundaries. 2) The activity involves students studying the direction of arrows on the map indicating relative plate motion and writing their answers on paper to present to the class. 3) The document provides background on the seven major tectonic plates and types of plate boundaries to support the student activity.

Activity 3: Find the Boundary on the Map!

FYI: The seven major plates are African plate, Antarctic plate, Eurasian plate,
IndoAustralian plate, North American plate, Pacific plate and South American
plate. Plate boundaries are formed between these plates. Can you identify them?
Objective:
Identify the plates that lie on the different types of boundaries
What you need:
Map of the plate boundaries
Pen / pencil
What you have to do
The figure on the next page shows the relative motion of the plates as indicated by the
arrows. Study the direction of the arrows on the map. Identify the plates that lie on
the divergent, convergent, and transform fault boundaries. Write your answer on a
Manila paper and Present your answers in front of the class.

Guide Questions:
1. How many Plate Boundaries are Convergent? Divergent? Transform Fault?
