Dr.J.M.Mallikarjunaiah 7 Member Syndicate Member,KSLU 4, | Dr.Uday Krishna = Member Syndicate Member,KSLU 5. |Dr-Taranath - Member Academic Council Member, KSLU 6. | Prof.G.R.Jagadeesh Member Academic Council Member, KSLU 7. | Shri.Shivakumar = Member Academic Council Member, KSLU | 8. | Shri.Basavaraj Rajur = Member Secretary Assistant Registrar, Section, KSLU ‘The Members of the Committee deliberated elaborately for adopting 50- 50 formula for valuation of even semester examination of June,2020 in view of 1 the judgment of High Court of Karnataka in W.P.NO.14389/2020 and W.P.NO.2922/2021 and formulated the following guidelines. 1. Assessing students for the Even Semesters examination for the Academic Year 2019-20 for promoting to the next semesters shall be based on the Internal Assessment (IA) marks of the students to an extent of 50% and the remaining 50% of the marks on the basis of performance in the previous semester only. 2. Where the Internal Assessment (IA) Marks are not available, previous semester marks shall be taken in to consideration and same marks shall be awarded to the students and marks card shall be issued. 3. Promotion shall be applicable only to the Even Semesters which were affected by the Covid-19 Pandemic and not applicable for all times to come. 4. The result computation criteria shall remain unchanged as it is mandatory to follow University approved Regulations. 5. Assessment for the 50% of marks on the basis of performance in the previous semester shall be based on aggregate percentage of total performance including theory and Internal Assessment (IA) marks and 50% of current even semester’s Internal Assessment (IA) Marks. 6. For both Theory and IA Marks, the previous performance shall be scaled to 50% and the current exam’s IA Marks shall also be scaled to 50%. From the marks so arrived for 100, the current semester IA marks for 20 shall be deducted so as to arrive at the theory marks for 80. The current even semester’s JA Marks for 20 shall be kept as IA Marks. Put together the 2 marks card shall reflect the Theory component out of 80 Marks and IA Marks out of 20, and accordingly total shall be calculated. (Enclosed Annexure 1, Annexure 2, Annexure 3 and Annexure 4 as Examples) 7. As per KSLU Regulations, candidate who has secured a minimum of 40% Marks is considered as pass in the examination. As such, a candidate who secures less than 40% of Marks based on aggregate percentage of total performance including theory and Internal Assessment (IA) Marks of the previous semester's performance shall be considered as fail. 2 10. ct 2 3. 14, 15. 16. 7. 18, In the even semesters, where for certain subjects Internal Assessment is for 100 Marks, 50% of the Marks on the basis of performance in the previous semester need not be considered. The Marks secured by the candidates for the current even semesters shall be considered as actual Marks. Promotion shall be applied only for the fresh students i.e. who are appearing in the examination for the first time. Promotion will be considered only for the students who have paid fees. Maximum and Minimum Marks of the subject/Degree including its elements such as Theory, IA, Viva, Practical should not be altered. Marks Card that will be issued after assessment should be in the same format that was given earlier for the previous exam. As per the guidelines, when the result is computed, the students can either pass or fail in the exam. The failed students may appear in the next exam that will be conducted by the University, If the student is not satisfied with the promoted result, the student has to surrender the marks awarded in the promotion result, and will get the result which will be declared in the next written examination and that will be final. Students failed in the previous semester, may have to clear the examination for the course in which he or she has failed/remained absent, in the forthcoming examinations. ‘The IA marks awarded by the college shall remain unchanged. The IA marks will be retained and used in future exams, in case the student fails to pass in the current examination. Revaluation/Challenge valuation/Re-totaling options are not available under this scheme. Absent shall be treated as “Zero”(0} Recommendation: This Committee further recommends that the Marks of the Even Semester of the Intermediate Semesters for the Academic Year 2019-20 (Covid: 19) shall not be taken into consideration for the award of Ranks. ‘The Meeting concluded with the thanks to the Chair.
