Assignment#1

Prepare Straight through and Cross over cables using Twisted Pair cable.

Assignment#2

Plan a network in 20’ x 100’ room with 2x Labs i.e. PCs (45 each lab), computer
tables, topology, cable (type, length etc.), devices (Nodes (inserters), patch
panels, Switches (ports, layer 2 or 3), Server Room (equipment, size, location,
doors etc.) ? Install 2x access points in each Lab?
Q1. Draw network diagram (use Structured Cabling) on Graph paper, enlist
devices, give cost estimate for the network?
Q2. Make this diagram using MS Visio?

(Hint: Computer Table = 2’ x 2’.5”)

Assignment#3

Prepare a classless network using sub-netting of class B network that will include
8 subnets. For each sub-network, give subnet mask, broadcast address, network
address, No. of hosts, Starting/ending IP Addresses, Binary bits used etc.
Note: CR will assign IP address to each student and provide me the list of IP
assignment.

Assignment#4

You are provided with pre-installed Windows 2012 Server in a virtual machine.
Q1. Configure Windows 2012 Server and promote it to domain controller with
a domain name = First two letters of your first Name + Last 3 digits of your
Registration number.
Q2. Configure DNS, DHCP etc.
Q3. Join a client with Server with its entry in DNS.
Q4. Configure security on drives.

Project#

Using Packet Tracer, Layout 2x networks for 2x site i.e. BIIT campus and NU
campus. Each site have 1x router, 1x L3 switch and 2x Labs. Each Lab contains 1x
L2 switch, 2x access points and 3x PCs. Use fiber optic cable between two sites.
Each site has an Internet connection from PERN.
Q1.

• Configure all the devices in the network on both sites and configure routers
for basic static routing?
• Configure vlans in L2 and L3 switch for each lab?
• Configure access points in each Lab?
• Prepare documentation of all configurations in a document file and submit
it as softcopy by email.
