SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN

I. SPECIFIC LEARNING OUTCOMES/ OBJECTIVES


At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
1. Identify situations in real life that needs research
2. Examine the importance of research in daily life
3. Develop procedures to accomplish tasks in real life using research
through Inquiry-Based Learning

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

Material: Copy of the text, Power Point presentation

III. PROCEDURE:
A. Introduction: (3 minutes)
Recall previous sharing about research experience.
Reflect on the question (don’t answer yet):
What do I know about research?
Why is research important even in our daily lives?

B. Motivation: (7 minutes)

1. Pair the students. Ask these questions:


1. After graduating from SHS, what would I like to do?
2. State two or three possible options.
Pick the answers of 3 pairs of students. Ask them to elaborate on how
they can accomplish their goals.

C. Guided Practice (5 minutes)


Purpose: Scaffolding and Inquiry Based Activity for student. Learning by
Doing.
Show the graph of IBL.
Ask:
During the discussion with their seatmate, did they go through these
process?
Introduce the IBL process.

D. Independent Practice (15 minutes)


Group Activity
Instructions:
• The class will be divided into five (5) groups.
• Each group will have a problem task to solve using the IBL process.
• After 15 minutes, the group will present in a creative manner the process
and solution to their given problem. Presentation time is maximum 3
minutes.
• At the end of the report, they will also state one good reason why research
is important in their daily life.
Be guided by the rubric.
As ABM students, the groups have to accomplish the following tasks (one
for each group).

1. How to apply for Mayor’s Permit


2. How to apply for a summer job (SPES)
3. How to order online from LAZADA
4. How to apply for admission in college of your choice
5. How to register a business name (DTI)

APPLICATION:
After the report, present the slides on the importance of research in our
daily lives. Compare it with the student’s report – are these learnings
similar? Is there any additional reason that the students missed or
contributed? Discuss briefly.

GENERALIZATION:

Research in our daily lives is important and necessary because it


helps us solve actual problems. It also promotes critical thinking in
making sound decisions and minimize the probability of wasting
time on a certain task.
It promotes efficiency and effectiveness.

IV. EVALUATION (20 minutes)

Present the accomplished task. Groups will report in front of the class.
Five groups will present for a maximum of 3 minutes. Fifteen minutes will
be spent on presentation while five (5) minutes is allocated for feedback.

1.State at least 3 characteristics of research.
2.Properly cite sources.
3. Write this in your notebook.
