1.0 PURPOSE

1.1 This method statement outlines the construction methodology and safety /
environmental procedures for the effective completion of all finishing works
under this contract.

2.0 SCOPE OF WORKS

2.1 The works covered by this method statement is the successful / skillful completion
of the finishing works in all the aspects associated with this contract. These
finishing works are not limited to the following:
1.) Cement / sand rendering to
walls 2.) Wall and door painting
3.) Floor and wall
tiling 4.) Epoxy
floor painting

3.0 SAFETY

3.1 All safety measures shall be in accordance with W12006-HSE-001, HSEW Plan

4.0 ENVIRONMENTAL

4.1 All environmental measures shall be in accordance with W12006-

HSE-002, Environmental Management Plan.

6.0 RESPONSIBILITIES

Fhe Construction ñfanager and Supervisor are responsible for ensuring that the works are
carried out in accordance with the plans, specification and workmanship requirement, in a
safe working environment. They are also responsible for ensuring that the workforce are
informed of and comply with the quality and HSE requirements of the works undertaken.

The QA/QC ñfanayer shall be responsible for the required submittals and for ensuring that
this procedure is properly executed. He is also responsible for documenting and controlling
concessions, deviations and non-conformances in accordance with the relevant project
procedures mentioned in Sec. 5.0 above. He is also responsible for the production and
maintenance of the relevant Quality Control documents and their timely availability to the
parties involved.

7.1 This finishing works in all the aspects of this contract shall comply strictly with
international standards, regulations, procedures for installations and acceptable in
quality to our client.

7.2 All safety rules/regulations, environmental protection and procedures shall be

strictly followed.

7.3 There shall be no deviations from the recommended materials.

8.0 MATERIALS

In this case, the materials pertaining to a particular aspect of the finishing work shall
be enumerated step by step.

9.0 SEQUENCE OF WORKS

9.1 In this sequence of works, the various aspects of the finishing works
shall be analyzed as with the materials.

Surface preparation to ensure there is no foreign matter.

All unevenness shall be covered with Ardex B10 mixed with
water. Application of a mixture of Ardex B10 to all precast
surfaces.
Application of sand / cement mortar to cast in situ surfaces

2.) Wall and Door Painting

Surface preparation to ensure the whole surface is even, dry and free
from grease, oil, loose scale and other foreign matter.
Application of primer coat.
Application of 1st and 2"d coats, giving enough time
lapses. Cuttings and final touch on both walls and
doors.

3.) Floor and Wall Tiling

Surface preparation to ensure evenness, free from dirt, grease and
other foreign matters.
Application of sand /cement mortar in the case of ceramic floor/ wall
tiling. Application of gum in the case of carpet tiling.
Rolling with heavy steel roller on the surface of the carpet tile.
Cutting and dressing with gray colored mortar cement in the case of
ceramic floor and wall tiling respectively.

4.) Epoxy Floor Painting

Surface preparation to ensure there is no foreign matter, free from grease,
oil and other loose materials.
• Taking level with quartz sand mix.
• Application of epoxy paints A & B.

10. CONSTRUCTIOI'4 METHOD

Construction methodology in every aspect of the finishing works shall follow strictly,
the standard procedures and specifications in order to achieve a high quality of
finished work.
This construction method is explained here for every aspect of the job as per this
contract.

10.1 Sand / Cement Rendering to Wall

a.) The surfaces to be rendered are prepared smooth, in some areas grinded
to achieve evenness/smoothness.

b.) The wall surface is rendered with mixture of Ardex B10 and water of light
thickness and well spread, smoothed to avoid swollen and or dented
surfaces.
c.) In the case of cast in situ surfaces as the case may be, the
thickness is increased to achieve the desired level.
d.) Corners, grooves and confined areas are well dressed.

10.2 Wall and Door Painting

a). Effectively clean the surface to rid off any dirt, grease, oil and other foreign
matter.
b.) Grinding of some surfaces if necessary to get the required
level. c.) Application of prime coat.
d.) Application of 1st coat of emulsion paint to the surfaces and gloss paint to
the doors-steel or wood.
e.) After a time lapse e.g. 24hrs, a second coat is applied and well
smoothed. f.) Cutting and touching of corners, grooves and confined areas.

10.3 Floor and Wall Tiling

a.) Preparation of the surface to be laid.
b.) Mixing and laying of sand/cement screed on the floor/wall to the required
thickness and level.
c.) Application of gum to the surface in the case of PVC flooring.
d.) Fixing of vitrified floor tile on the floor and taping to get the required
level. Spaces between tiles will be covered with fillers and made good
for wall tiles; the spaces between floor tiles are covered with gray
colored mortar to match.
In the case of PVC flooring, after spreading the gum the tile is laid flat and
well
spread to avoid air pockets. A smooth heavy steel roller is moved round
the surface to compact and press perfectly to the ground.

11. QUALITY CONTROL

A strict quality control measures and controls shall be in place to check quality of
materials in order to ensure that they meet required standards. The work
procedures shall meet with standards, specifications and not undermining safety
and environmental implications.
