Compare and Contrast – Cake and Ice -cream
Most of our dishes have origins which are really ancient. The main ingredients in
them have remained the same over the centuries, but their preparation methods have
changed. Did you know that Cake and Ice – cream are very ancient dishes, dating back
to old civilizations of Egypt and China respectively. Both these delicacies travelled to
Europe with the merchants who sailed to distant lands for trade.
Both Cake and ice – cream are alike in many ways. One similarity is that both are
sweet to taste and are served on special occasions. Cake as well as ice – cream has a
variety of flavours to choose from. Also both can be made as per the requirements of
individuals. Furthermore, they change their liquid form on being cooked and to be
consumed.
However, the two are also different in many ways. Unlike the ice – cream, the
cake needs to be baked for making it edible. On the contrary, the ice – cream needs
to be put into the freezer to get it into the form that we are able eat. Although the
cake does to melt even when left at the room temperature, the ice – cream needs to
be stored in a cold place or it will melt. Another difference is the ingredients used to
make these dishes. The main ingredients for the cake are wheat flour, eggs and
butter. Also baking powder is added to make it spongy. In contrast to this, ice –
cream’s main ingredients are milk and custard powder. Also, as opposed to the cake,
which is an all weather dessert, ice – cream is basically enjoyed during the summer
season.
To summarize, cake and ice – cream share a long journey to have achieved their
current form. They are both enjoyed by young and old, alike. They can be easily made
at home. However, they require different ingredients and the procedure for cooking
them is also dissimilar. I don’t think there is any one on this planet that is not tempted
by these two yummy food.
