Assessment 3- Case Study

Task 1 :-
1.Develop or access 3 hazard identification
and risk assessment template documents
you could use in the restaurant
 :- Conduct regular worksite inspections by
visually assess the types of equipment,
work practices, and any potential hazards
that could be harmful to workers.
 Interview workers and managers.
 Create a hazard map.

2.How would you plan for and ensure


systematic hazard identification in the
restaurant as designated by legislation?
:- To be sure that all hazards are found:
 Look at all aspects of the work and
include non-routine activities such as
maintenance, repair, or cleaning.
 Look at the physical work environment,
equipment, materials, products, etc.
 Include how the tasks are done.
 Look at injury and incident records.
 Review control measures.

3.Explain how you could take a lead role in


controlling risks in future in the Golden
Orchid restaurant, including implementing
interim improvements or emergency
solutions?
 :- Establish and implement a complete
work health and safety system that covers
the following components:
 Adequate facilities for the welfare of
employees
 Appropriate management of incidents or
accidents and notification to WHS
government regulators.
 Availability of information, instructions,
training and supervision that ensure
employees’ health and safety.
 Evaluate and identify improvements to
WHS practices within the workplace
system.

Task 2

1.Design job descriptions for 2 staff one a chef


and the other one a cleaner in the
restaurant. You must write them to
adequately incorporate WHS roles and
responsibilities?
:- The job responsibilities of a Chef:
 Lead, mentor, and manage culinary
team.
 Setting up the kitchen with cooking
utensils and equipment, like knives,
pans and food scales.
 Studying each recipe and gathering all
necessary ingredients.
 Develop and plan menus and daily
specials.
 Create work lists for kitchen crew.
 Manage food costing and inventory.
 Maintain standards for food storage,
rotation, quality, and appearance.
 Ensure compliance with applicable
health codes and regulations.

The responsibilities of a Cleaner:


 Clean and supply designated facility areas.
 Perform various cleaning actions such as
dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping,
cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning
etc.
 Perform and track routine inspection.
 Perform and track maintenance activities.

2.Your task is to ensure you develop the two


job descriptions in line with organisational
requirements and ensuring health safety and
security responsibilities are embedded in
each role?
:-The primary duty of an organisation
includes ensuring, so far as is reasonably
practicable:
The provision and maintenance of a work
environment without risks to health and
safety. The provision and maintenance of
safe plant and structures and safe systems
of work. This Act places a legal duty on
employers to ensure, so far as reasonably
practicable, the health, safety, and
welfare of employees, and to ensure that
employees and others are kept safe.
Under the Act you have an obligation to
ensure any potential risk of work-related
violence is eliminated or controlled.
Some steps to do so:
 Make sure that work areas,
machinery and equipment are kept in
a safe condition.
 Organise ways of working safely.
 Provide information, instruction,
training and supervision of employees
so they can work safely.
 Make sure that employees are aware
of potential hazards.
