Okay, can you tell me Trisha what is our We discussed about the Plan Training
last topic? Sessions

Very Good Trisha!

Yes, we discuss the Plan Training

Sessions

Let’s see if you still remember our

previous lesson.

Dairy, will you define the Competency – Competency – Based Training it is a

Based Training? training delivery approach that
focuses on the competency
development of the learner as a
result of the training.

Very Good!

Okay, next question.

and Auditory.
Very Good Roldan!

B. MOTIVATION

Before we start our lesson for today, we

will have first a motivation.
I prepared jumbled words here. When
the jumbled letters are flashed, all you
have to do is to arrange them so you can
form a word. Raise your hand if you
know the answer. Those who can
answer them all correctly will receive a
prize.

C. Developmental Activities

“Our topic for today is about Facilitate

Learning Sessions”

Joy, can you read this?” “The Principles of Competency –

Based Training, Competency –
Based Training is a training delivery
approach that focuses on the
competency development of the
learner as a result of the training.”

“Thank you Joy”

“Competency Based Training is training
that is designed to allow a learner to
demonstrate their ability to do something.
Learners are not expected to perform tasks
better than others, or in competition to
others and learners simply have to
demonstrate they can do a task, activity or
exercise well enough to be assessed as
“competent”. In other words, they must be
successful at the task they are given to
complete that unit of
work.”

“Is that clear class?” Yes Ma’am

“Miguel, kindly read this.” “10 Principles of Competency –

Based Training:
1. The training is based on
curriculum developed from the
competency standards;
2. Learning is modular in its
structure;
3. Training delivery is learner-
centered and should
accommodate individualized and
self-paced learning strategies;
4. Training is based on work that
must be performed;
5. Training materials are directly
related to the competency
standards and curriculum
modules;
6. Assessment is based in the
collection of evidence of the
performance of work to the
industry required standard;
7. Training is based both on and off
the job components;
8. Training program allows for
recognition of prior learning
(RPL) or current competencies;
9. Training allows for multiple
entry and exit;
10. Training programs are registered
with the UTPRAS.

“Thank you, Miguel.”

1. You should be aware that all training

activities are done towards the
attainment of the assessment criteria
set in the competency-based
curriculum.
2. One competency is generally
considered as one module. Since
learning is modular in instruction, a
trainee should be competent in the
module currently being trained
before going to the other
competency.
3. You are treated as individual
learners with different
characteristics, learning styles and
training needs. The trainee is
allowed to work independently or in
a small group. Because the training
based on the self-assessment of
trainees upon enrollment.
4. Training is always based on actual
industry practices. Training should
provide for a simulated work
environment. Because the trainings
are skilled based and competency
based. The competencies of the
trainees must be performed are
based on competency standards.
5. The Competency Based Learning
Materials used during the training
should conform to the competency-
based curriculum and the
competency standards.
6. Assessment is done to test whether
the trainee is able to perform the job
based on the required criteria in the
competency standards. Therefore,
the trainees are evaluated according
to their performing of work, it may
be in the form of observation, oral
questioning, written examination or
portfolio. The trainees are required
to submit evidences about the
performance of their work.
7. It follows the Dual training System
are studying in the training center
and they will be given chances to
have they’re on the job training in
the industries.
8. Your current competencies acquired
through training or work experience
are recognized before training
through a validation process.
9. You do not need to wait for others to
be competent before he can exit
either a competency or the
qualification. Fast learners may
graduate faster than others
10. All programs should be registered to
the Unified TVET Program
Registration and Accreditation
System. UTPRAS registration
assures the quality of training.

Are there any questions about the 10-basic

principle of CBT? None Ma’am

Okay, let’s proceed to the Types of Delivery

Modes. Nina karen, kindly read the 1st type Dualized mode of training delivery
of delivery modes?

Thank you!

In here we have two venues for training

delivery mode where the student study in
training institution and companies’ industry.

Can you tell me what is the difference of the

two pictures? The first picture was in training
school while the second picture
was in industry Ma’am
Very Good!

Glory, kindly read the second type of

delivery mode. Modular / Self – paced Leaning

Thank you!

In each training program Competency

Based Leaning Materials (CBLM) are
prepared by the trainee, where is the trainees
can read and learn on his own paced. That
the trainers serve as facilitator.

Where does the CBLM based on?

Competency Based Curriculum
Good Job!

Kyla, kindly read the third type of delivery

mode. Peer Teaching / Mentoring
Thank you!
In here wherein the fast learners can assist
the slow learners in a small group.

Who assist for the slow learners?

The Fast Learner
Great!

Jesa, kindly read the fourth type of delivery

mode. Supervised industry training or on – the –
job learning
Thank you.

In here the students assigned on different

companies and an industry supervisor is
assigned to mentor the work-based leaning.

Wendel, kindly read the second to the last of

the type of delivery mode. Distance Learning

Thank you

Especially now in Tech-Voc Institution’s

using this type of delivery mode because of
the pandemic.

Kate, kindly read the last type of delivery

mode. Project – Based Instruction

Thank you

The students / trainees are required to

complete requirements such as projects
which will be evaluated by the trainers. So,
they are required to submit output and that
output is a project. For example, in
Dressmaking NC II the project that is
required for this training is a blouse with a
collar, a sleeve and front opening.

How about in Food Processing NC II, what

do you think are the projects?

Great Job!

Again, what are the types of delivery mode?

Types of Delivery Mode:
1. Dualized Mode of Training Delivery
2. Modular / Self – paced Learning
3. Peer Teaching / Mentoring
4. Supervised industry training or on –
the – job learning
5. Distance Learning
6. Project Based Instruction
Do you have any question class?
None Ma’am
Okay, Let’s proceed to the Principles of
Adult Learning, Key Characters of Adult
Learner.

Marjorie, kindly read on this slide.

Adult learner desired that learning be:
 Relevant
 Task – oriented
 Participatory
 Friendly
 Varied
 Built on past experiences
Thank you!

1. Relevant - relevant to the needs of

the adult learner for example in food
processing the learnings they can get
at the training center are relevant to
his needs because he wants to learn
how to process the food process.
2. Task oriented – they are preferred to
the learning by doing.
3. Participatory – they have more
experiences; they have to share in
the class.
4. Friendly – they can control their
stress and their emotions. They also
want friendly and light environment.
5. Varied – they prefer more variation
of the learning activities inside
training center. There should be a
variety of delivery methods. In order
to meet the needs of the adult
learner. So adult learners are prone
to boredom, different activities must
be given to them.
6. Built on past experiences – they can
share their life experience to their
training program that they enroll.

Jan Dheyrick, what are the adult learner

desired that learner be? The adult learner desired that learner be are:
1. Relevant
2. Task oriented
3. Participatory
4. Friendly
5. Varied
6. Built on past experiences

Good Job Jan Dheyrick!

Is there any question class?

None Ma’am
Next the 8 Principles of Adult Learning

Hanagene, kindly read this slide.

1. Learning is most productive when
the student is ready to learn.
2. Learning is most effective when it
builds on what the student already
knows or has experienced.
3. Learning is most effective when
students are aware of what they need
to learn.
4. Learning is made easier by using a
variety of training methods and
techniques.
Thank You Hanagene.

1. The law of readiness states that

learning can only take place when a
student is ready to learn. Although
motivation is internal, it is up to the
trainer to create a climate that will
nurture experienced.
2. If the trainees have experiences
related to the training, therefore the
leaning will be more effective.
3. If the students are aware of the
competencies that they will be
taking in the training it means that
the trainings guided on what to take
in the training.
4. Based on the characteristics of adult
learner they preferred more of the
difference modes of trainings or
activities provided by trainer.

Do you understand class?

Yes Ma’am
Heizel, kindly read this slide.
5. Opportunities to practice skills
initially in controlled or simulated
situations are essential for skill
acquisition and for development of
skill competency.
6. Repetition is necessary to become
competent or proficient in a skill.
7. The more realistic the learning
situation, the more effective the
learning.
8. To be effective, feedback should be
immediate, positive and non-
judgmental
5. An example for this role plays
wherein the trainees will be given
opportunities to practice the skills
that they need to performed. Another
example in bread and pastry
production the trainees are given
opportunities or chances to prepare
bakery products.
6. Through repetition the trainees can
master the skills or the competencies
of the training.
7. they are even more able to acquire
the skills of realistic. For example,
their project is preparing bakery
products like pandesal. The trainers
will let the trainees to perform how
to cook the pandesal that will be
more realistic. Therefore, it is more
effective learning to the trainees or
they can learn while they doing.
8. Feedback must on strength and skills
of the trainees

What do you think positive feedback is

more effective than judgmental
feedback?

Very good!

Therefore, the positive feedback can

help motivation, boosts confidence, and
shows people you value them. It helps
people to understand and develop their
skills. While the judgmental feedback by
saying the weakness of their skills.

Do you understand class?

Yes Ma’am
Is there any question class?

Next the Delivery Plans

Mary Joy, kindly read this slide.

The following activities will serve as useful
guides for a facilitator:
1. Explain the objectives and the
outcomes of the training
2. Explain the learning and assessment
process
3. Ensure the presentation and training
methods are appropriate
4. Use training equipment and
materials correctly
5. Provide frequent advice and
feedback to facilitate the learning
process
6. Provide ample practice opportunities
7. Monitor trainees’ readiness for
assessment
Thank You Mary Joy.

1. The trainer will explain what are the

objective or learning outcome will
be target for the whole training
session
2. The trainer will explain to the
trainees how they will be evaluated
3. you need to make sure that all the
presentation materials and the
training methods you will use are
appropriate for the training program
you will teach.
4. I have an example, in Dressmaking
NC II they use pin, needles and
cloth. make sure that the
equipment’s you will use in the
training program to be taught must
be all correct.

Can you give at least 3 equipment’s for

Cookery NC II?

Excellent!

5. Providing frequent and ongoing

feedback is a significant means of
improving achievement in their
learning.
When do we need give feedback?
6. It is more effective learning to the
trainees or they can learn while they
doing.

7. This is to monitor if the trainees are

already competent in the training
and they will be prepared to ready in
National Certificate like Cookery
NC II, Dressmaking NC II and Food
Processing NC II.

Remember class, these 7 useful guides as

facilitator will serve you on how you
become trainer.

Is there any question for these 7 useful

guides as facilitator class? None Ma’am

Did you understand class?

Yes Ma’am
Mary Ann, kindly read this slide.
The Nine Events of Instruction:
1. Gain Attention
2. Inform learner of objectives
3. Stimulate recall of prior leaning
4. Present stimulus material
5. Provide learner guidance
6. Elicit performance
7. Provide feedback
8. Assess performance
9. Enhance retention and transfer
Thank you, Mary Ann.,

1. Gain attention – to catch up the

attention by doing some motivation
2. Inform learner of objectives –
trainees must be guided on the
lesson
3. Stimulate Recall or Prior Knowledge
– review of the past lesson
4. Present stimulus material – you will
present your lesson, if it is in CBT
you will use the different delivery
mode like dual training mode and if
the demonstration is need you will
present videos.
5. Provide Learner Guidance – you need to
guide your trainees/ student to
performing the task. For example, at the
elementary level, I told my students to
underline the adjective written on the
blackboard then I had one student who
didn’t know which adjective he needed
to underline. As a teacher I need to
guide or tell him on what adjectives are
so that he can answer what I ask him to
do.
6. Elicit Performance – you will give them
an activity. For example, the trainer will
perform on how make guava jam. Then
they will perform the steps based on
how much they understood in their
trainer's demonstration.
7. Provide Feedback – while the students
are performing the skills, so the trainers
should provide an immediate feedback
to students that is to motivate to work,
continue their good work and guidance
to those who are not performing well.
8. Assess Performance – after finishing
their products or projects the trainers
will evaluate their performance by using
a checklist or rubrics.
9. Enhance retention and transfer – you
need to do a question and answer so that
you will know what they have learn.

Additional information for these 9

events of instructions it was equivalent
to the lesson plan.

Alana, can you give all the 9 events of

instructions in order?
The 9 events of instructions:
1. Gain attention
2. Inform learner of objectives
3. Stimulate recall or prior knowledge
4. Present stimulus material
5. Provide learner guidance
6. Elicit performance
7. Provide feedback
8. Assess performance
Excellent! 9. Enhance retention and transfer

Are there any question about the 9

events of instructions?
None Ma’am
D. Generalization
We have discussed the knowledge, skills
and attitude required in facilitating
learning session in trainer’s
methodology level 1. In our lesson, it
includes the principles in conducting a
competency-based training, the different
types in delivering CBT, principles of
adult learner and how a trainer should
deliver CBT. CBT focuses on the
competency development of the learner
as a result of the training. Learning in
the CBT is modular in structure and
these training programs are registered
with the UPTRAS (Unified TVET
Program Registration and Accreditation
System). Learners in the CBT are adults.
The trainer should prepare the training
in order to meet the needs of adult
learners. The trainer serves as a
facilitator and should be prepared in
delivering the CBT.

“Did you understand the discussion class?”

“Do you have any question regarding to our Yes Ma’am

lesson?”
