accepting me as his attaché. Additionally, I would like to thank MR. steve mungai for his

assistance, advice, and guidance throughout the attachment period.

Abstract

This report is a compilation of the 8 weeks of industrial attachment I had at Adrian . It

summarizes the work done during this period, problems encountered as well as suggestions and

recommendations. This report further highlights the specific tasks performed and the weaknesses

of the attachment as compared to the curriculum. My assessor Mr. Kungu requested the report on

5th July 2021.

Introduction

For my external attachment, I worked with Adrian. The latter is a multiorganizational institution

that undertakes various projects. Objectives of Andrian ltd include Transforming Africa by

connecting communities and businesses through sustainable technology.

Position and Responsibilities

My position in the team entailed an intern or attaché. I was tasked with conducting research and

beginning the development of a web application that would provide information about software

as an operation in the hospitality industry .My responsibilities, therefore, entailed conducting

surface-level research on point of sales that are used in the hospitality industry. I additionally

checked in with my project supervisor to discuss my progress on the research and the

development of the application.

Skills Developed and Concepts Learned

Through the attachment at Adrian Kenya limited, I learned a lot about the inner workings of a

corporate company or institution. I learned how to draft and present project proposals, receive

and implement feedback and how to communicate professionally with other members of the

organization. Since the COVID-19 pandemic was still in full swing, I worked remotely. I was

therefore forced to develop discipline as I had to work under little to no supervision.

On the coursework front, I learned more about the web development such as project

planning, web security ,Django framework and the internal workings. Before this project, I had

never developed a web application and deployed it .I had little experience in web deployment

process such as the use of docker containers,PaaS and IaaS. I was also, introduced to the android

studio IDE and multiple languages for android development. Further, I learned about different

frameworks for android development such as flutter, Xamarin, and react-native. I was introduced

to concepts such as emulators and platform-independent front-end languages such as javascript

and flutter. I learned how to develop an application from scratch and use UI elements to make

the application interactive. I was additionally able to develop and use a database to store my

application data. Through the attachment, I was able to learn how to use firebase for

authentication. I was further able to learn how to test for dependencies between modules and to

perform integration tests.

Challenges

The principal challenge I experienced in the attachment was the iterative nature of agile we kept

updating new changes to the system to suit the organization needs.

Recommendations

My experience as an attaché in Adrian kenya was an educational and investigative one. I was

able to learn a lot about software development and the inner workings of a multidisciplinary

teams. The attachment facilitated a hands-on experience of the actual corporate world that I aim

to join after completing my studies. However, I believe that I still have to work on my skills as a

software developer to seamlessly transition into the working class. I will work on the same.
